I remember watching the French movies Jean de Florette and the follow-up Manon of The Spring (1986) on VHS when I was in college. (It was out for like several years at that point. I’m old, but not that old.) The lead actress in that film, Emmanuelle Bart, was absolutely beautiful. She was just strikingly pretty, and one of the main plot points of the film was a weird farmer neighbor who was obsessed with her. Beart was also in Mission Impossible in 1996. Well time and the plastic surgeon’s knife have not been kind to Beart, now 48. She admitted getting work done in an attempt to look and feel younger, and the results are anything but natural. Beart is now warning women against getting surgery at all, after getting her lips done and botched badly at just 27. I think she’s had something done to her eyes too because they look totally different to me.
Here’s part of what she said:
?I had my mouth done when I was 27. It was a botched job,? she told Le Monde.
?Obviously, if I had liked my mouth I wouldn?t have had it re-done.
?If a man or woman has something redone it is because he or she can no longer live with that part of their body, it is no longer bearable.
?Either they get help and find the strength to fight [the need to have plastic surgery] or they proceed with the act.?
There has long been speculation the 47-year-old has had some cosmetic procedures.
But this is the first time she has confirmed it and admitted how early she had work done.
Miss Bart made her name aged just 23 in the celebrated French language film Manon des Sources, which was an international success.
She went on to star alongside Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible.
The actress has always been hailed as one of the world?s great beauties.
In 2003, aged 40, she posed nude on the beach for Elle magazine – the issue was its biggest seller.
Miss Bart said she was ?profoundly affected? by having plastic surgery and would not consider it again.
She added: ?It is a grave act in which you don?t necessarily foresee all the consequences.
?Just the idea of an injection these days devastates me. So I don?t know how I will get through these stages [of middle and old age).?
The star said she was not critical of other women that sought cosmetic fixes because often the issue was about ?that person lacking confidence?.
She admitted that working in film was an added pressure to maintain your looks as the years pass.
She explained: ?It is not easy to grow old in this business, when you are a woman above all, in the cinema.?
Miss Bart one of a number of high-profile woman to succumb to the ?trout pout?, joining the likes of Leslie Ash, Saffron Burrows, Britt Ekland, Melanie Griffiths and Meg Ryan...
Miss Bart, who has two children from two relationships, now lives in Belgium.
She is well known for her charity work - she is a UN ambassador and has campaigned to raise awareness about child exploitation and hunger in South East Asia.

I just want to give her a hug. I always say that there’s nothing wrong with good, light work. How do you know if you’re going to get decent barely noticeable surgery or if you’re going to walk away with a different face (like Cindy Crawford)? You just don’t know ahead of time, I guess, and you have to pick a very good surgeon and carefully consider the consequences. Too many women pay for it with results that change their looks for decades. Is it mean to say that Beart should move to L.A. and she’ll fit right in? I mean she’s very pretty, you can just tell she has new lips and eyes.
