Here is Charlize Theron thinking outside the box has its rewards at the Academy Awards on Sunday in Hollywood.
The Mad Max beauty did not wear a traditional complex ball gown that is par for the course at Hollywood’s big nights.
Instead, she wore a simple but ultra-sexy Dior creation which skimmed her slim physique before flowing behind her with a mini train.

| Lea Michele in Pamella Roland at Elton John's Oscar party: sheer genius or not' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Glee alum Lea Michele arrived at Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Oscar Viewing Party in West Hollywood last night in a gown by designer Pamella Roland. The newly single actress’ gown featured a sequin covered emerald blue bandeau top with black sash around her waist. Her skirt was sheer floor length tulle with navy paneling underneath. Lea kept her bling to a minimum, accessorizing with elegant drop earrings and a sapphire and diamond ring. Lea wore her hair in a low ponytail and pared a smoky eye with a nude lip. The actress, who took to the stage during the party with former Glee co-star (and eternal hottie) Cheyenne Jackson, sure didn’t appear to be down in the dumps about her recent breakup. I’m glad Lea can put on a brave face, but the dress isn’t doing it for me. I made a sequined tube top for a disco party in college and that is the feeling I’m getting from this gown. It is giving me a decidedly “Studio 54, circa 1979? vibe. And I am not a fan of the sheer skirt (although it certainly seemed to be the trend this year.) I do like her hair and makeup.

Mena Suvari arrived at the party in a pale dress with starburst accents and a sheer mid-midriff (if that’s a “thing”) .I guess the dress is alright. It’s nothing spectacular. I don’t like that peek-a-boo sheer panel in front. It’s up too high and it doesn’t really serve any purpose. I like the color, but am not crazy about those starbursts either. I’m also not entirely on board with her hair. It looks a bit messy for the gown but, to her credit, her makeup looks great.

Model Hailey Baldwin, who was recently romantically linked to Justin Bieber, looked glamorous in a red satin gown with a cutout at the waist and a split to showcase her long legs and strappy black stilettos. Hailey’s date for the evening was Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton, who looked quite handsome in a charcoal suit and black shirt. I love red dresses and Hailey has the body to pull this look off effortlessly. Her ruby and diamond jewelry are the perfect complement to the stunning gown and her hair and makeup are on point. And, I have to admit, she and Lewis do make a good looking couple. Sorry, Bieber.
Andie MacDowell stepped out in a daring electric blue gown with a deep plunge in the front and a thigh-high slit, topped off with a beaded embellishment on her shoulder. Andie is definitely epitomizing the old saying, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.” She accessorized the gown with diamond drop earrings, a diamond bangle and a cute white clutch. It’s hard to believe that Andie is 57 with those curves and her flawless makeup application. I adore the color of her dress. I like that she dared to bare some skin, but I do wish the gown had more of a defined waist. And let’s talk about the hair. Was she trying to look like the singer from Karmin? I think with everything going on here, a simple updo would have sufficed. All in all though, this is a winning look.

| Jennifer Lawrence in Alexander Wang at the VF Oscar party: dated & tragic? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

We?re really tired and we?re going to be saving some of the Oscar-party coverage for tomorrow, because photos are still coming in, etc. So enjoy this, the tailend of today?s Oscar and Oscar-party coverage. While Jennifer Lawrence made a point of not doing much press (or any press?) on the red carpet of the Oscars, she was totally up for the post-Oscar parties. J-Law changed out of her Dior gown into this Alexander Wang two-piece dress for the Vanity Fair party. Tell me the truth: does this surprise you? Isn?t this the exact kind of ensemble you would have expected on Taylor Swift? Tay-Tay?s been going through a bandeau-top phase, and I guess Taylor finally made it happen. I actually think this is completely terrible on J-Law. It looks dated and sloppy. It?s unflattering. It?s not properly tailored. Just bad, bad, bad.
And here?s Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake. I wondered why Biel was at the Spirit Awards over the weekend, but I guess she?s just doing the party circuit this month. Sure. Jessica?s dress is Zuhair Murad and it is matronly.

| Amy Adams in Versace at the VF Oscar Party: hot or bad color combo? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Of the handful of women in Versace at the Oscars ceremony, I think Tina Fey was my favorite. The color was exquisite, the fit and draping of the gown were elegant and she just looked regal. These are some of women in Versace at the Vanity Fair Oscar party last night (some photos and IDs are still coming in so I may have missed someone.)
I like the idea of Amy Adams’s dress more than the execution. It’s really a bombshell dress with both the way it clings to her and the mixed use of the draped white pieces and the black sequin net sections. There’s some visible craftsmanship in this gown. I just wish the colors and fabrics weren’t as contrasting and that the difference between the sections was more subtle. I would like to see this gown with black instead of white fabric, or just all white with white sequins over paler (not nude) mesh. Her hair and makeup are very pretty.
Heidi Klum redeemed herself, somewhat, after that terrible one sleeve Marchesa at the Oscars ceremony. She’s in Valentino and while the beading along the front is busy and continues too far down the skirt for my taste it could be much, much worse. She brought her 29 year-old boyfriend as her date, Vito Schnabel, and he looked both puffy faced and drunk. This is the guy who gets to bang Heidi Klum.

Kerry Washington, who also wore Versace to the Oscars, was in this plunging v-neck white Versace which had like a contrasting yellow butt shelf. I don’t even know what’s going on back there. The front of that intricately beaded dress is hot and I like the strappy structural details on the front and back.

| Taylor Swift in Alexandre Vauthier at the VF Oscar party: fab or fug? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

There?s actually a grand tradition of Taylor Swift attending the Vanity Fair Oscar party. One year, she went to the party just to accost her ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal by the bathrooms. One year, she came out following another breakup and she wanted to show everyone that she was single. One year, she met up with Karlie Kloss at the VF party and then they went on a post-Oscar roud trip up the coast of California. This year, Taylor brought two dates ? her brother and one of the ladies in her squad, Lorde. Swifty and Lorde posed together on the carpet, then Swifty posed separately. I guess Taylor wants you to know that she?s not mad at Lorde for hanging out with (and hold hands with) Diplo last week. Diplo and Swifty are enemies, but that?s a story for another day.
Swifty wore this Alexandre Vauthier which? I?m not crazy about, but then again, I?m thankful that she?s moved beyond pastel tulle dresses. The worst thing about this look is her bob. I keep going back and forth on it ? in the photos of Swifty last week, in a casual outing, I almost liked the bob. But in these photos, I really don?t like it. It?s much, much too severe.
And here?s another VF party girl, Emily Ratajkowski. This dress is kind of a joke. Apparently, it?s Steven Khalil, although that ID might be wrong. But if she just wanted to wander around the VF party in a bustier and panties, why didn?t she just do that? Why do we have to call this a dress?

| Gwen Stefani in Yanina at the VF Oscar Party: ridiculous or red hot? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Gwen Stefani and beau Blake Shelton made quite the impression as they made their red carpet debut at Vanity Fair’s Oscar party last night. Gwen was wearing a very sheer red dress from Yanina Couture, embellished with satin petals. She was carrying a Jimmy Choo clutch and had her hair styled in subtle waves. She was also rocking her trademark red lips, which completely fit in with her ensemble. I love me some Gwen, but I am not nuts about this dress. There’s just too much skin going on here. I think it would have been nicer to fill in all of those petals on the bodice and go with a petal-covered mini dress. Right? Gwen also served as a part of the evening’s entertainment, performing hits old (“Hollaback Girl”) and new (“Make Me Love You”).It’s nice to see Blake wore his “nice jeans” for the event. Oh, Blake, I know you can clean up better than that. I get it, you’re a cowboy, but putting on a nice pair of pants once in a while wouldn’t kill you.

| Kate Beckinsale in Romona Keveza at the VF Oscar Party: pretty or weird? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
You know how Kate Beckinsale has one setting on the red carpet and it’s pretty much stuck at pageant? I was reviewing Kate’s fashion and she’s actually been mixing it up recently, but for a while there, when she was still with her husband Len Wiseman, she would do big hair and/or high hair with a tight, often sparkly dress. So it’s nice to see Kate with her hair down especially.
She looks so different! She should have started wearing her hair differently the minute she first did Botox, because it would have distracted us from how much her face has changed. Which… you can still see it. Maybe it’s the orange lipstick or the kind of homogenous look that women get when they get too many injectables, but she looks like Olivia Munn here.
Kate was in a white strapless Romona Keveza gown with blue and black abstract sequins across the bodice. This is just the right amount of embellishments for a gown. they add interest without being busy or distracting. (See: Marchesa.) What a beautiful dress this is.
Here are some other random people at the VF Oscar party. Amanda Peet was in Oscar de la Renta. She never gets it right, does she? Just like the last time we saw her on a red carpet, at the SAGs, she’s in an odd gown. This one isn’t as bad, I like the contrasting velvet and the rhinestone floral detail at the belt, but the top is boxy and the bunched fabric at the skirt is bizarre. I get the impression that she prefers to be comfortable and tries not to stand out. At least she’s wearing lipstick this time.
I’m including Thandie Newton here because I want to make fun of her hair. She’s got Diane Von Furstenberg hair, right? I don’t have an ID on her dress but she’s basically wearing lingerie. Just no.

Sofia Vergara is a prime case of someone who wore the dress to the after parties that they should have worn to the Oscars. If you may recall, Vergara was in Marchesa for the Oscars. This killer strapless white number is the same style she always wears, but it suits her and she’s working it. She also switched out her gorgeous earrings. Vergara’s new husband, Joe Manganiello, was off working. (Not on the new PeeWee Herman movie although he’s in that and it looks awesome, on a TV Show.)

| Margot Robbie in gold Tom Ford: one of the best gowns of the Oscars? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Margot Robbie was another one of my favorites at last night?s Oscars. She got to present with Jared Leto (because The Suicide Squad), and for the honor of presenting, Margot was the only woman at the Oscars in Tom Ford. That?s how exclusive Tom Ford is these days, he?ll only dress one person at the Oscars. And he chose Margot. Which? okay? I like her too, and I think she?s got that It Factor, but at the end of the day, this dress probably should have gone to someone like Brie Larson. Still, this is an absolutely gorgeous, sexy dress. I have mixed feelings about Margot?s styling? I think she wanted it to be all about the dress, which is why everything else feels sort of undone. I think they could have figured out a better hairstyle and a better clutch though.
Kate Winslet wore this custom Ralph Lauren ? imagine Kate in that gold Tom Ford. Right? She would have looked great. I actually didn?t hate this RL dress, but it was very, very SHINY. And Kate needs to stop f?king with her face and then lying about it. Her Botoxologist had a field day reworking her face ahead of the Oscars. Just a few weeks ago, her Botox made her look like she had a permanent scowl, and now she?s stuck on ?sleepy.?

| Anne Hathaway in Naeem Khan at the VF Oscar party: stunning & '70s' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Anne Hathaway came out for the Vanity Fair Oscar party last night, and I?m surprised to see so many sites running these photos. Annie has been taking a break from the spotlight for months now, so I take this whole thing as ?people actually sort of miss seeing Annie Hathaway.? Which should make her feel good. You know what else should make her feel good? This totally beautiful maternity look by Naeem Khan. This is sort of ?70s-inspired but it really, really works. This is maybe the best maternity look I?ve seen in years. Annie looks so beautiful! She?s glowing.
Minnie Driver also wore Naeem Khan to the VF party. I hate this. It makes her look like she?s in her 60s.
There were so many Naeem Khan frocks at the after-parties!! Both Ashley Greene and Brittany Snow wore Naeem Khan gowns at Elton John?s Oscar party too. I actually love Ashley Greene?s dress so much, it?s the perfect party frock. Brittany?s is meh.

| Sofia Vergara in Marchesa at the Oscars: elegant or fug? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Presenter Sofia Vergara was one of the poor souls in Marchesa last night, which only one nominee was wearing. She was in this navy overworked strapless gown with a chiffon skirt, satin top and a lot of fussy details like beading and a side drape at the waist. This is just way too complicated and the result is that you don’t know where to look. Plus it’s the same silhouette she always wears. Sofia does get points for wearing her hair back though, as our friends at Socialite Life pointed out on Twitter. Remember how she said that women over 40 shouldn’t wear their hair back? I wonder who convinced her to switch it up.
Heidi Klum will make every worst dressed list in this terrible one sleeve deep v-neck Marchesa with ombre stripes. She has to be trolling on the red carpet at this point. It’s like she knows that wearing the most fug dress she can find will get her coverage. She’s already done the “show lots of skin” tactic, this is her next phase.
Chrissy Teigen was one of the least offensive in Marchesa, although she still looked somewhat questionable in this formfitting nude dress with rose and floral embellishments and a deep v-neck and v-back. There’s just too much going on with this gown. It’s too busy and looks somewhat showgirl. Less is more. Did you see that Teigen made the same “oh no”/disgusted face at the Oscars this year? She was reacting to that bizarre bit with Stacey Dash.

| Jennifer Garner in black Versace at the Oscars: widowy or classy? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
Jennifer Garner was a presenter at the Oscars last night, three years after her husband won for Best Picture and thanked her in his acceptance speech for “working on our marriage for ten Christmases.” This was Garner’s turn to shine as a single woman and she instead chose to go with a somewhat staid one shoulder Versace gown with a half beaded bodice, a thin beaded rope belt and a long draped train. When you look at the details of this dress it’s incredible but the color is taking away from how impressive it could be. Garner could have really emerged triumphant after her (some say) passive aggressive Vanity Fair interview in which she both managed to laud her estranged husband and hint at darker details, but instead she played it safe. Imagine how this dress would have looked in a jewel tone with her hair down. Her jewelry is amazing though, checked out those stacked tennis bracelets.
Kerry Washington was in Versace too, in a black and white gown which made no sense to me. I like the idea of a black leather bodice over a white fabric skirt, and the pocket leather detail is clever, but the cut of the top is too boxy. It’s like she has on a modest superhero breast plate. There’s impressive tailoring in the top but the neckline is too high and it’s like the straps don’t belong. I can see where they were trying to mirror the straps along the sides of the waist but I’m distracted be the ill-fitting bust area. Still she looks hot.

| Reese Witherspoon & Tina Fey in exact shade of purple at the Oscars: no biggie? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
Everyone was clucking at the Oscars that Reese Witherspoon and Tina Fey were wearing the same shade of deep purple, which I didn’t really get. During the E! Oscars fashion lead-up, Brad Goreski said that jewel tones were going to be one of the big trends this year, which I appreciate as those colors really pop on the carpet. When we have two women in the same red or blue color it’s no big deal, this is just a color we’re not used to seeing. Plus the cut of these two dresses is much different, it’s not like they’re wearing variations of the same dress.
So Reese was in this rather fug Oscar de la Renta strapless gown which would be a typical red carpet dress if it wasn’t for the bizarre bunched up boob shelf with a black bra thing peeping out and the mini bustle at the back. We’ve seen Reese in such amazing, spot on red carpet dresses and it’s like she’s lost her footing. Her usual style is a classic, clean look and this is definitely an ill thought out departure.
Tina Fey, on the other hand, pretty much slayed in Versace. This is how you work a bright color, with a clean dress which has some thoughtful, understated details. I absolutely love the draping in this gown and the way the fabric is gathered to the side to fabric trailing slightly at the waist. This type of draping was popular a few years ago and I like that it’s making a comeback. This is an amazing dress. Check out her necklace. Perfect styling too.
I’m including Tina’s buddy here, Amy Poehler, whom I just feel sorry for. She was in Andrew GN, in a giant black dress with bell sleeves and very large embroidered bugs and greenery. Giant bug embroidery is a thing. The obvious joke here involves squashing.

| Cate Blanchett in seafoam Armani at the Oscars: one of the best looks ever? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Before Cate Blanchett came onto the red carpet, I thought Saoirse Ronan was going to be my favorite dress. Then Blanchett walked out on the carpet with THIS DRAMA. This custom-made, seafoam green Armani is absolutely perfect? on Cate. I think I might have had a problem with this on someone else, but with Cate?s height, her figure, her coloring, this was as close to perfect as we?re ever going to get. The Armani photographs well, it moved well, and it looked amazing on stage as she presented too. I think she knew well enough that she wasn?t going to win another Oscar, so she just came out to have fun, pick up her crazy Oscar swag bag, party with Leo and win the red carpet.
Also in Armani? Another Best Actress nominee, Charlotte Rampling. Controversies aside, I think she?s a very elegant woman and this dress is totally fine. The lilac shoes though? No.
Note by Celebitchy: This is Naomi Watts in Fall 2015 Armani. On the E! Red Carpet discussion they said that she had two dresses picked out and that Liev helped her decide on this one. This was probably my favorite dress of the entire night, it’s dramatic, it fits her like a glove and the color and fishtail pattern along the skirt are amazing. Kaiser thought it was 80s and dated but I just found it very striking. She has on Bulgari jewels.

| Leonardo DiCaprio wins the Oscar for Best Actor for 'The Revenant' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

This one was a given. Of course Leo DiCaprio won. We knew he was going to win since December, pretty much. We knew he was going for it when he found out that he had hired all the Oscar consultants in Hollywood. And, at the end of the day, I don?t blame him for wanting it and I don?t blame him for going for it. But I?ve enjoyed his desperation and neediness. I actually never wanted it to end.
So Leo won. He unclenched. They made him sit through months of shilling, then they made him sit through four hours of other people being handed Oscars. They made him sit through really long clips of all of the other actors. He RUSHED the stage, and of course he got a standing ovation. For Boy Drama In the Woods.
Leo thanked Tom Hardy first off, and for what it?s worth, I do think that they?re really buds. Then he thanked Inarritu, his team, his family, his friends (the P-ssy Posse), then he made a larger statement about climate change, 2015 being the hottest year on record, something something indigenous people: “Climate change is real. It’s happening right now.”
Also, you?ve got to love how hard Leo has been trolled by, like, Establishment Hollywood. They?re like, ?we?re giving you this Oscar but we?re going to make fun of you the whole time.? Who greenlighted the fake bear in the audience at the Oscars? Because the fact that Leo was so TIGHT and PINCHED that he couldn?t even laugh? That made it next-level funny.

| 2016 Oscars Open Post: Hosted by pregnant Anne Hathaway | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here is your 2016 Oscars Open Post, hosted by forever Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway. Our beloved Annie is knocked up these days, as you can see in these photos. She was photographed leaving the Armani pre-Oscar party in Beverly Hills last night. Armani was celebrating Leonardo DiCaprio, because of course. While Annie probably came out because she?s tight with the Armani label, I?d like to think she came out to celebrate Leo because Leo is the Annie Hathaway of the Oscars this year: inevitable and annoying. In fact, I would argue that Leo is much, much worse than Annie ever was. Also, I?ll forever associate Annie with the Oscars because remember when she hosted with James Franco? God, what were they thinking?
Annie?s not scheduled to present, but who knows? Maybe she?ll come out for some parties tonight. She?s been keeping a lower profile throughout her pregnancy, but everyone comes out for the VF party, right? Anyway, we?ll have full coverage of the Oscars tomorrow, and we?ll be trying to get to some of the best party photos tomorrow too, but the party coverage will probably extend to Tuesday as well.
You can see this year?s Oscar nominations here, and if you want to review all of the #OscarsSoWhite drama, just go here to our Oscars category. I would imagine this year?s telecast will have great ratings, just because people will be tuning in to see what Chris Rock says in his opening monologue. Plus, the Academy has made a point of getting some racially diverse presenters. We?ll see. Please come back tomorrow (bright and early!!!) for our Oscar coverage.
Celebitchy & I will be tweeting throughout the red carpet and Oscars telecast as well ? go here for my Twitter and here for Celebitchy?s Twitter.
