Still going strong on the promotional trail for their new flick "We Are Your Friends", Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski took over the TLC Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday night (August 20).
The "Blurred Lines" babe looked ravishing in a cleavage baring, Pink Maria Lucia Hohan gown and Giuseppe Zanotti heels, as the "Hairspray" hunk kept is simple with a navy suit and matching tee.
During the premiere, Emily spoke PEOPLE about working with Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike on "Gone Girl" saying, "They led by example. They're all amazing actors, and I just really rose to the occasion being around that."

| Emily Ratajkowski wants her next role to have 'nothing to do with being pretty' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Here are some photos of Emily Ratajkowski at last night?s LA premiere of We Are Your Friends, the Zac Efron movie where he plays a poor, downtrodden? DJ. Emily wore her most reveal ensemble of the promotional tour, this Maria Lucia Hohan gown with a big side-slit. Emily tried to work her leg like Angelina Jolie at the Oscars. Does she pull it off? I think she does. The gown honestly reminds me of something Kim Kardashian would pour herself into, so? I don?t know, I think Emily could have done better.
Meanwhile, Emily has a new feature in The Editorialist. Her media pieces for this press tour have been pretty good ? she got the cover of Harper?s (a Bazaar off-shoot), she got the cover of British GQ and she got an interview in the New York Times. Emily has ?arrived? to a certain extent. The world is her oyster. You can read the full Editorialist piece here. Some highlights:
She?s not all about ?being seen?: ?It was never so much about being in ?Hollywood.? I really enjoyed doing theater as a little kid. I was obsessed with Cats and would put on shows for my parents when I was five years old. Every home video turned into a musical theater performance.?
Working on ?Gone Girl?: ?[On set,] David basically told me to not think. It?s counterintuitive because you do all this research and think about how you want this character to come off and then you get on set and basically need to let that all go.?
On her co-star Ben Affleck: ?It was monkey see, monkey do. You see how this person is doing it and you rise the occasion.?
Liberal parents: ?My parents were pretty liberal. They gave me a lot of space to be a kid so by the time I got to college, I was pretty bored with the idea of going out.?
Her style icons are Natalia Vodianova & Bianca Jagger: ?I evolved out of the 90s floral dress and lace up boots era. It?s all about being a little sexy but also being comfortable. I like how men?s stuff looks on me and I play with that a lot.?
What she wants to do next: ?It?s a hard question. It depends on the story and character. Complex and dynamic female roles in my age range don?t come around that often. If I could choose anything for my next movie, it would be someone who has nothing to do with being pretty or attractive. I?d love to play a role that surprises people.?
[From The Editorialist]
She said something similar to the NYT, that she wants her next role to have nothing to do with prettiness or beauty. She also cites Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara as her industry role models. While I think she?s probably never going to break out of the ?pretty ingnue? typecasting mold, I don?t really hold her career goals against her. A lot of pretty women say ?I wish people would cast me as something other than ?the pretty girl?,? and the problem is a lot larger than the roles Emily specifically is up for and will get. Meanwhile, it?s good that she?s still modeling, you know? Because even though white women with great boobs will always have a place in Hollywood, Emily?s not going to become our next Meryl Streep. As for the Ben Affleck stuff? Ben made sure to spend a lot of time ?coaching? Emily. I think it?s interesting that she doesn?t have anything else to say about him in this piece.

| Star: Evan Spiegel has 'fallen head over heels' for Miranda Kerr, apparently | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As we discussed last week, Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel are still happening. Miranda seems to be giving off a whiff of billionaire-boyfriend-hunter and Evan still gives off a whiff of douche-bro frat boy. He?s got crazy money because of Snapchat and Miranda is a wealthy model in her own right, although I guess she?s always up for having MORE money. Their body language is pretty funny, mostly because Miranda is really trying to make this work and Spiegel just seems? I don?t know, like he?s a douche-bro frat boy used to having beautiful women at his beck and call. Anyway, this week?s tabloids have some interesting stories about their relationship.
Star Magazine says Orlando Bloom has issues with how much time Spiegel is spending with Flynn Bloom, Orly and Miranda?s 4-year-old son. A source says:
?Miranda has Evan over to her house constantly. They carry on like a little family. Orlando thinks it?s too much, too soon.?
At a recent family gathering, ?Flynn said he thinks of Evan as a father and loves him so much.?
Miranda and Evan ?have only been dating for a month, but Evan has fallen head over heels for Miranda. He adores her and thinks he would make an excellent stepfather for Flynn,? a source insists.
[From Star Magazine, print edition]
This seems like wishful thinking on Miranda?s part more than Orlando?s concerns. Miranda and Evan have been dating for what? Like, three months? Granted, I know she wants to move fast and I still believe she?ll probably try to get knocked up, but I doubt 4-year-old Flynn is all ?I consider this man to be my new father, take note, mother!?
Speaking of Spiegel and how he?s a ?heartbreaker,? it?s worth remembering that for a hot minute, Spiegel was maybe associated with Taylor Swift. They met a while back, for sure, and there were rumors of a brief fling. Well, the National Enquirer says that Swifty called Miranda because ?she wanted Miranda to know Evan is a womanizer and was seeing other girls behind her back when they were dating.? Swifty also told Miranda that Spiegel dumped her (Swifty) by text, which is amazing in and of itself. Anyway, Swifty is allegedly trying to convince Miranda that Evan only dates famous women to boost his own image. Something Swifty would know all about.

| Jessica Alba on Goop comparisons: 'It's unfair to lump actresses together' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Jessica Alba covers the new issue of Allure. After strongly disliking Alba for so many years, I?ve sort of coming back around to liking her slightly and admiring her business sense. Do I think The Honest Company is perfect? Nope. But she grew it out of nothing and now it?s worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Still, it?s good to remember that Alba began her company shortly after Gwyneth Paltrow began experimenting with the actress-as-lifestyle-guru model, which has now taken off to a crazy degree. Gwyneth recently spoke about she feels it?s ?slightly misogynistic? to compare and contrast actresses? lifestyle sites/companies, and Alba does the same thing in her Allure interview:
Her thoughts on the Goop comparisons: ?What I think is unfair is to lump actresses together. People aren’t lumping Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher together. They do other businesses. I think it’s expected that when you get success in one area, you’re supposed to evolve and try to do something else?especially in business, and especially if you’re a man.”
Whether she feels strongly about acting: ?I did.?
Focusing less on acting: “I never wanted to play into a stereotype, where it’s like, ‘Oh, you’re just the girl who gets saved by the guy,’ and she doesn’t know how to make decisions, and she gets overwhelmed with all this stuff happening around her?Women are freaking resilient.?
She would still do nudity for a film if she wanted to: “If there’s a role where I feel comfortable doing that, sure. It’s just I never felt like being naked was going to make the movie any better. If anything, it was just going to exploit me for no reason.”
Her husband: “Gosh, it wouldn’t really be possible without him. He helped me put together my initial business plan. He was always my biggest cheerleader but never gave me unrealistic expectations and never criticized me so much where I felt defeated. Having someone who genuinely has your back, no matter what, there’s nothing like that…. It’s a real unconditional love…. The partner that you choose to go through life with you, that’s your chosen family.”
[From Allure]
Well?first of all, we do lump actors together when they?re doing very similar things around the same time. If Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher both launched tech companies within a few months of each other, we would be making comparisons. If Jennifer Aniston launched a tequila company, we would compare it to George Clooney?s Casamigos too. We compare and contrast when there is a very obvious trend, and right now, for actresses, that trend is lifestyle companies/websites. Alba?s Honest Company IS different than Reese Witherspoon?s Draper James, of course, but it still fulfills the notable trend of actresses pursuing other businesses in a similar genre. Basically, I feel fine with Gwyneth, Reese, Blake and Jessica getting the same kinds of questions because they?re honestly all doing variations on a theme.

| Olivia Wilde will overcome sexism: 'It evens out' we?re so much smarter' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Olivia Wilde appears in the September issue of Elle for a feature on what it’s like to turn 30. They interview several actresses, but Olivia’s interview dropped first. She overthinks the aging thing like so many of us tend to do. Livvy’s also profoundly influenced by her motherhood experience and tends to fall into magical-womb speak. Her interviews sometimes stir up a debate, and I think she says controversial things without even realizing it. Like the time she said her ex-husband made her vagina die. That wasn’t good. Here, Olivia alludes to the happiness she felt upon divorce, and how she’s evolved in the three years since. She may step in it a bit when comparing male and female development, but I don’t know because I only have one child and can’t compare daughters and sons. Let’s do this:
On her upcoming thirties: “I find that most of the women that I really look up to, both women I know personally and women I admire from afar, are in their forties. So now, my thirties seem like this great opportunity to develop the experience and wisdom that will allow me to have an even greater decade in my forties. Thirties feel like a fertile ground. The twenties are for f***ing up, that’s what you’re supposed to do, and your thirties are for using the knowledge you gained from said f***ing up to make something, to put that experience toward something useful. And then I think your forties are an opportunity to enjoy what you’ve worked for.”
Her life changed at 27: “I got a divorce, and I felt like I finally started my career. I started making movies and projects that I just really believed in. I remember a good friend saying to me, now isn’t it relaxing that you don’t have to be perfect? And I thought, that is something that happens for everyone, not just for professionals. At the end of your twenties, you realize you are inherently flawed, and that’s great, and that’s what makes you dynamic. For me, personally, it was around 27 when that kind of return to self took place, of living for myself, not living to keep up expectations.”
On sexism and male favoritism: “It evens out in other ways. We’re so much smarter. You know, it’s interesting having a son. Someone told me that it’s good when you have a son first because when you have a daughter first and then a son, you think your son’s slow. A lot of parents freak out because they’ve seen a daughter progress so quickly and they think their male child is like damaged. But boys are just naturally slow.”
More on aging: “At 30, it’s not a lack of awareness of consequences, but I think it’s another biological, evolutionary shift that allows you to break away from the tribe. And to be yourself. And to live for yourself. And I think it’s maybe designed so that you will be an elder, maybe it’s designed so you can be a parent but, you know, you don’t have to be. The point is that you then are free to make whatever decision you want. If you think about it, we’re still living by these biological patterns that were designed to allow us to survive — I mean we were all going to die by 30 anyway. Maybe that’s what it is! At 30, the reason we feel this release is because we’re supposed to be dead. This is our, like … our afterlife.”
[From Elle]
I really have no idea what Olivia’s talking about with her “break away from the tribe” reference. She sounds pretty kumbaya and mother-earthy, which is probably her idealism talking. Livvy’s a pretty positive person (except when she’s kinda trashing her ex), and she’s delivering an inspirational missive for a fashion magazine. They wanted her to discuss the awesomeness of turning thirty, so that’s what she did. Now, let’s see what Olivia has to say when she turns 40. A whole lot can change in a decade.

| Evan Rachel Wood on dating Marilyn Manson: 'I thought I was in love' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Evan Rachel Wood covers the latest issue of The Edit. She?s really giving me strong Robin Wright vibes here. It?s not just the haircut (although the two women have very similar hairstyles), but facially, they are very similar. ERW even played Robin?s daughter in the completely underrated The Conspirator and the casting was simply perfect (plus, James McAvoy was wonderful in that film too). Anyway, Evan hasn?t done much press lately, partly because she hasn?t had many big projects to promote and partly because she really doesn?t want to talk about herself. She?s barely had one public word to say since she split with Jamie Bell last year. In this interview, she gives up quotes about Jamie, her thing with Marilyn Manson and more. But we still don?t know her son?s name! Isn?t that crazy?
Turning 28: ?I turn 28 in a couple of weeks and I can?t wait! I love getting older. I feel like your twenties are such a s**t show, I just want to get to 30 and say, ?I made it!??
Becoming an actress in her teens: ?I was very shy and insecure. I was expected to handle myself like an adult, but I didn?t have the tools. All I knew was how to be an actor and work a red carpet. I didn?t know what I wanted or who I was outside of the industry. You start thinking, ?Do people even like me as a person?? [My parents] didn?t want anything bad to happen, so they held on tight ? so tight that I couldn?t breathe. And I pushed away really hard. I was like, ?Wait a minute, I didn?t get to be a teenager and make mistakes!? I felt I?d been cheated.?
Her relationship with Marilyn Manson: ?I thought I was in love. I wasn?t doing it to prove a point or be rebellious. I wanted to break a mold for sure ? I knew I was edgier, more alternative, and weird. And he was just what I needed, because I felt really free with him. And that freedom was attractive.?
The backlash she got for ?homewrecking? his marriage to Dita Von Teese: ?People were cruel. You build immunity to that sort of thing, but I wasn?t used to negative feedback, so it got to me. Then I got angry, and pushed away even more. I wouldn?t trade any of [our relationship]. I appreciate everything he taught me. I just don?t think we were right for each other.?
Her bisexuality: ?I knew it was part of me, but I hadn?t allowed myself to explore it. I didn?t realize how crippling it was until I finally opened that door and went, ?Wow!??
Giving birth to her son by candlelight: ?It was a psychedelic experience. I felt like I was hitting every corner of the room. Everything was vibrating.?
She still loves her ex-husband Jamie Bell: ?Jamie?s lovely. He was the love of my life.?
Her plans for the future: ?Life doesn?t give a s**t about your plans? I don?t want to have another baby, but my little sister is adopted, and I was hoping that one day I could do that…?
[From The Edit]
Evan has always said variations on the ?Marilyn was a great teacher? thing post-split. She was 19 years old when they got together and he was 36. Of course he was ?teaching? her about life. She was a sheltered child actress and it was obvious she thought he was, like, the coolest person in the world (he is not and he never was). As for Evan giving birth by candlelight? hippie nonsense. At least she has nice things to say about Jamie. I still have hope that they?ll get back together at some point.
