Showing some love for her American fans, Nicole Kidman attended the Film Society premiere of ?Paddington? in Manhattan on Tuesday night (January 6). The ?Moulin Rouge? actress was darling as she worked the crowd outside Lincoln Center ahead of the special screening.
And while she was in the Big Apple, Nicole also paid a visit to ?The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon? during which she told of a time when she and Jimmy had a pseudo-date. Kidman recalled, "So Rick, our mutual friend, says to me, 'Oh, Jimmy wants to meet you, and you can go over to his apartment.? And I'm single, and I'm like, 'Yeah, OK.'"
Nicole continued, "You're there in a baseball cap ? and you wouldn't talk. You didn't say anything ? and then you put a video game on or something. I'm like, 'This is so bad.'"

We?ve got even more highlights from Jennifer Aniston?s InStyle cover interview for the February issue. Even though I was complaining about some missteps by Jennifer?s Oscar strategist (like letting Aniston talk endlessly about her tabloid persona), I do think putting Jennifer on the cover of InStyle was a smart move. InStyle is still on every newsstand, like Cosmo or Glamour, but InStyle has a better, more People Magazine-like audience. It was good timing to get her on the February cover. And to parcel out the good quotes over the course of two days! Yesterday, we heard Jennifer tell some lies about when she got together with Justin Theroux. In today?s excerpts, we hear some of her thoughts about Botox and plastic surgery.
She denies Botoxing: “I just take care of my skin, eat well, exercise. And I love lasers and [other noninvasive treatments like] Thermage [radio frequency] and Ultherapy [ultrasound]. I also like a good microcurrent facial.”
Why she hasn?t gone under the knife like so many actresses: “People lose perspective. I look around and see how bad plastic surgery and injections can really kick you in the ass.?
Her skincare secret? Sleep and water, which she says are “your best bets for really great skin.” Additionally, she sees a naturopathic doctor, who recommends taking fish oil and a probiotic, and when it comes to makeup, the gorgeous stunner swears by “everything from Chanel.”
Her Cake character: “This one, well, she’s really banged up. For two months there were no mirrors to look at, no manicurists. Nothing. The hardest part for me was when they said, ‘Don’t work out.’ I said, ‘But I have to.’ And then I realized, Oh. When you’re not working out, your levels of joy just go down, down, down. And it’s not that easy to get the weight off once you stop working out. You say to your body, ‘Hey, what’s going on?’ But that’s just the 40s.”
She eats pasta these days: ?Blasphemy, I know. I never ate pasta. I?ve been allowing myself a lot more in the past few years. Which does make it harder to lose those last few pounds. But you have to live. And so what? You go up a size. What?s the big deal??

And just sleep and water? and thousands of dollars? worth of laser treatments, peels, facials, Ultratherapy, vitimins, and lots of Chanel products. Because that Aveeno crap is for poor people, amirite? Wait, she?s the face of Aveeno and she didn?t even shill for them in this interview?! Whoa. As for her ?bad plastic surgery and injections? comment, she needs to say something to Courtney Cox. For real. CC has just ruined her beauty completely.
Oh, I also learned that this interview took place on her ?gray cashmere couch in her living room? while she sipped ?passion fruit iced tea.? She has a gray cashmere COUCH? I bet that?s a bitch to clean.

Annie?s making the rounds because she?s promoting Song One, a film she stars in and produced. She actually coproduced it with her jewelry-designing husband Adam Shulman. In addition to doing Kimmel, she also gave an interesting interview to the New York Times. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
On coproducing with Adam: ?We felt pretty good at the end of it. It was humbling, because I thought I knew a lot more about making movies than I did.?
Advice for Neil Patrick Harris for hosting the Oscars: ?Do the opposite of what I did, and you?ll be fine.?
When asked what went wrong when she co-hosted the Oscars: ?I think it?s so obvious that it doesn?t even need to be identified. He?ll be great. He?s a natural host.?
The end product of all of the Hathahate after she won her Oscar: ?Self-acceptance. If you?re not someone who has a natural and effortless love for yourself, it?s hard to let go of your desire to please other people, and that?s really not an ingredient for a happy life.?
What was behind all the vitriol? ?Oh, I think you can?t answer that and be a self-respecting person.?
If her email was hacked, what would it say about her? ?That I?m a very private person. I don?t reveal much in email. I?ve just had to be aware, for a very long time, that it is not an airtight form of communication.?
Is she surprised about the lack of email security? ?No. I think it?s good that we don?t sit around expecting the worst to happen.?
Her New Year?s resolutions: ?I have one, but I don?t want to mention it because it?s scaring me. And it has nothing to do with pregnancy. But it?s not because of a problem. It?s just because why not: I?m going to really prioritize my health this year and not drink, at least not in January. I want to take a month off.
Whether she?s still a smoker: ?I?ve quit. I got hooked for a few years. I had a four-year break, and then actually when I was producing ?Song One,? I started smoking again. It?s easy to romanticize it when you haven?t done it in a while, but it?s actually pretty disgusting.
Her thoughts on vaping: ?I don?t judge the vape. I know some people who used to be three-pack-a-day smokers, and I?d much prefer them having the vape. I don?t want to give them any excuse not to vape.?

Maybe something was lost in transcribing the quotes, but it seemed like Annie went cold a few times, like she was aiming for self-deprecating about hosting the Oscars but then it just turned dark and uncomfortable when the NYT interviewer wasn?t like, ?Oh no, you were fine!? Or ?People really didn?t hate you that much, it was all in your head!? To be fair to old-school Annie, I never blamed her for the Oscar hosting debacle. James Franco got high and forgot to prepare and Annie tried to be a professional and save the night. As for the smoking stuff? I don?t judge the vape either. It bugs me when people complain about the vape.
PS? Her hair is looking particularly cute these days.

I don’t know how much interest remains in the Cameron Diaz/Benji Madden nuptials (which took place on Monday night), but some sweet updates filtered out from inside sources. Yes, I flinch a little bit too when I hear the word “sweet,” but these are pretty cool details. Most of them, anyway.
In Touch published a full account of how many glitches happened at the wedding. Joel Madden (as the best man) dropped Cameron’s wedding ring during the ring exchange. Cameron tried to change into a reception dress, but she couldn’t remove her wedding gown and panicked. There was also a power malfunction immediately before Cam walked down the tented aisle. But all of the guests — including Gwyneth Paltrow, Samantha Ronson, Reese Witherspoon, and Drew Barrymore — had a great time. Lionel Richie sang at the reception, and Nicole Richie stood as the matron of honor.
The Mail got wind of the toasts exchanged at the reception. Cameron explained to the entire party why she “waited” to get married:

When the lights flickered and went out for 10 seconds before her big bridal entrance, Diaz could be heard cursing: “S***, f***, this is f***ed up. You’ve got to be f***ing kidding me!”

Oh, to be a gossamer-winged butterfly on the wall when Goop encountered Sam Ronson at the reception. Can you imagine? Goop is probably the only person to address Sam as “Samantha” in person.
Anyway. Cameron’s speech inadvertently addresses my curiosity over the quick change of heart from the hardened Cameron we all witnessed a year ago. She hinted at previous proposals, right? I’m glad she waited to marry Benji instead of, say, Jared Leto. Being married to Jared would be an absolute nightmare. Not only would he be chasing randoms, but there’d be so much hair in the shower drain. Gross.

Hey, remember back in the day, when Ben Affleck hired Blake Lively to play the ?floozy? character in The Town? The rumors were all over the place that Blake and Ben spent too much time together, alone, and Ben seemed especially smitten with his young costar. Just my opinion: I always believed there was something there and I think it really hurt Ben?s marriage for a time. But Ben and Jennifer Garner recovered and are still ?strong? (I guess). So is it especially awkward to hear another rumor, this time involving Blake?s baby name? Blake and Ryan Reynolds welcomed their first child sometime over the holidays. There?s new gossip that Blake gave birth to a girl? and that they named the baby ?Violet?. Like Ben and Jen named their first child ?Violet?????
It?s a girl! Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds? bundle of joy is a baby girl the couple has named Violet, according to a tweet from someone who claims to work at Westchester Medical Center ? but sources confirmed to Page Six that while Lively?s baby is a girl, her name may not be Violet.
Multiple sources say the 27-year-old actress gave birth just before the new year. While the child arrived earlier than expected, we?re told both mom and baby are healthy.
According to one source, Lively?s parents, Ernie and Elaine Lively, are currently with the couple and their new baby at home in Bedford, NY. Lively and Reynolds, 37, married in 2012.

The case for a Violet Reynolds: It legitimately sounds like a name Blake would have chosen. It?s flowery, it?s old-fashioned, and I?m sure Ryan or Blake had a great-grandmother named Violet or something.
The case against a Violet Reynolds: I genuinely don?t think Blake would be so careless as to copycat Jennifer Garner?s baby name. I just don?t believe it. Blake might go for something in the same general area though. Iris. Marigold. Bluebell. LAVENDER. OMG it?s totally Lavender. Lavender Reynolds. Little Lavie.
For what it’s worth, Us Weekly also says that Blake and Ryan didn’t name their baby girl “Violet” and that the mysterious tweet was fake. So… there is no Violet Reynolds. But is there a Lavender Reynolds?!
Update: For some reason, Blake covers this week’s issue of People Magazine. She managed to get the cover without confirming anything about the baby! It’s so random.

Here are some photos of Kaley Cuoco and her husband Ryan Sweeting at last night?s premiere of The Wedding Ringer. This is Kaley?s big push to become, like, the next Katherine Heigl (minus Heigl?s unpleasant personality and grasping momager). Kaley wants to be the most successful woman in TV and transition into romantic-comedies and such. Maybe comparing her to Heigl is unfair ? Kaley wants to be the next Jennifer Aniston. Anyway, for her big night, Kaley wore this light grey Kaufmanfranco Fall 2014 dress. I like it? The dress is cut beautifully, it looks great on her figure, it?s flattering and I don?t mind the light grey color at all. My only problem with the look as a whole is still Kaley?s hair. It just doesn?t work. It?s too short for her face. I hope she grows it out.
As we discussed last week, Kaley covers the latest issue of Redbook and during the course of the interview, Kaley made some comments about feminism which were problematic. She said that she doesn?t identify as a feminist because she chooses to cook for and serve her husband, and I guess ?cooking for your family? is antithetical to feminism. Kaley later offered a half-assed ?I?m sorry if you were offended? apology on Instagram and basically claimed she was misquoted or taken out of context. So, as you can imagine, the feminism questions came up during her press rounds for The Wedding Ringer.
Kaley told Entertainment Tonight that all she was trying to say was that she feels blessed: “I really truly meant that I am so lucky and blessed. My career has been growing since I was very young and I haven’t felt like I had to fight to be equal. That’s why I said it.” Er? see, that?s kind of problematic too, Kaley. Because that?s privilege. Because she hasn?t had to fight inequality, does that make her blind to gender inequality next door? Kaley also explained her position further with Access Hollywood:
“What most people I hope would understand that was a three-and-a-half hour conversation that someone saw two sentences [of] and then saw dot, dot, dot. So there was a lot more said,” she said. “If I offended anybody, I talk a lot, and I am sorry if I offended anybody. I love being a wife. I think I said [I love] serving my husband, I love to make him dinner, I love being that person and the whole feminist comment there was ? again, so much more [was] said.”
The actress said her comment about not being a feminist because she already felt equal, was coming from a place of gratitude ? not ignorance.
“I had felt that I had been so blessed in life today in my life and in my business that I felt like such an equal for so long and I haven?t felt like I’m trying to [move up]. I feel like I?m there. I feel like I’m powerful and that’s where it was coming from.”
So what does feminism mean to the 29-year-old?
“I mean, I think that it is equal, you know? But the funny thing is if I was a guy doing the cover of Redbook and I said all those things, I’d be known as Superman,” she said. “It really was completely blown out of proportion. And a lot of people took it completely the wrong way and again, I just don?t want to offend anybody. Sometimes I don?t realize how in-the-public I am? I don?t hide anything, I am completely who I am.”

Sigh? why does she keep insinuating that making dinner for her husband means that she can?t identify with feminism?!? As for the rest of it, with Kaley ?feeling equal? already? I mean, that?s the dream. That young women wouldn?t even have to think about inequality because they?ve always been treated as equal to their male contemporaries. The thing is, I don?t think a 29-year-old woman in Hollywood has been that blessed throughout her life. I just don?t.

Embarking upon an exciting evening, Emmy Rossum showed up at Cecconi?s Restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday night (January 5).
The ?Day After Tomorrow? dame was in the house for the Showtime Network Celebration of ?Shameless? Season Five, joined by costar William H Macy. And of course, Emmy got all gussied up in her red carpet finery for the shindig, including a grey paneled leather sleeveless dress and ravishing rouge lipstick.
Of the new ?Shameless? season, Emmy told press, ?Things have to get better for [my character] Fiona because they got really rough last year for her with jail and drugs. She?s going to be a little more introspective, and a little slower to throw the first punch.?
