| Candice Swanepoel Cranks Up the Sex Appeal in New Mother Denim Campaign | Added 9 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

|
She?s always looking to expand her horizons, and Candice Swanepoel is proud of her new 1990s-flavored collaboration with Mother Denim.
The Victoria?s Secret stunner is featured in the just-released photo spread, shot by Russell James, and proceeds from the sale of the capsule will benefit the Mothers2Mothes charity.
Candice told Vogue, "Mother approached me with this project, and after I met the team I knew it was the perfect partnership not only to try my hand at designing my own line and learning what it takes, but to also help a great cause at the same time."
"I seldom pass up an opportunity to learn about something new. It excited me because they gave me complete freedom to make the denim I love. I chose everything from the washes, fits and styles to directing the campaign shoot. I got to put so much of myself into it, which was rewarding but what made it more so is that I also got to help a very noble cause in South Africa that is dedicated to eradicating pediatric HIV."

| Drew Barrymore on why she isn't acting as much: 'my phone isn't ringing off the hook' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Drew Barrymore covers the February issue of More Magazine. She’s promoting her cosmetics line, Flower Beauty, which is available at Walmart. I find the advertising and colors for the line very garish, like a young girl getting into makeup for the first time. (Example: Drew on the website with blue eyeshadow from lid to brow, red-orange lipstick and minimal mascara.) That’s Drew’s style though, and she’s probably making bank for it. She’s also been able to carve out a separate niche for herself, one that gives her more time for her family while expanding her empire. So many actresses are putting out branded products, and Drew has a wine line too. (Update: she also has a production company, Flower Films, which has about four films in development. From what I can find, Drew is not listed to star in any of those, but they only have preliminary information up on IMDB.)
Drew isn’t a big box office draw anymore, (I think that Adam Sandler kind of dragged her down with him although he’s inexplicably getting more gigs than she is) and she’ll tell you about it. She will also tell you that her childhood sucked. Here’s some of Drew’s interview with More Magazine, with more at the source and in their February issue.
On the idea of women having it all:
?I?ll get in trouble for it, but I?ll say it anyway: Women can?t do it all. Quantum physics actually says you can?t do it all. Like, you can?t do everything at every minute of every day; it?s actually not mathematically, molecularly plausible. [However,] I do think that women can do everything they want to do, especially if they work hard enough at it. I don?t believe anything comes easy. You have to earn everything in life.?
On her work-life balance:
?I love the beauty industry because even on a workday I can wake up with my kids, go to work, come home, bedtime?there?s a normal life there. And it?s exciting when you have to go on a business trip, as opposed to a film where you?re gone for months. I can?t do that right now. As you add more onto your plate, particularly family, things have to fall off, or you won?t be a good parent.?
On why she stepped back from her acting career:
?Because the hours are too crazy [and] my phone isn?t ringing off the hook with great parts.? But she filmed the upcoming drama Miss You Already with Toni Collette because ?Toni us one of the greatest actresses.?
On her childhood:
?I was a happy, blithering idiot. I don?t know how to feel differently about it because I don?t know what another life would be like, so it?s hard to pretend or imagine or wish that it was different because it isn?t. Even if I was a bad girl at moments here and there, I was never a bad person.?
On being a good mother:
?I didn?t really have parents, you know? And therefore the kind of parent I will be is a good, present parent. In a way, maybe that was a detriment to my youth, but it?ll be the biggest asset to my adulthood.?
On her relationship with her mother:
?[I] look after her. That is how I feel good about [our relationship].?
[From More Magazine]
Drew has said similar things in the past about women not being able to “do it all” and she’s talked about her lousy childhood too. These are her talking points, and I still find them interesting. She’s trying to say that we can’t “do it all” in the literal sense or something now. I think she got some mild backlash for that quote before so she’s over-explaining with all that “not molecularly plausible” nonsense. I like that Drew is admitting she’s not getting a lot of roles and isn’t framing her career like she’s chosen to run a cosmetics line instead of be a big movie star. It sucks that she’s kind of aged out of the romcom parts (not that it’s fair) while Adam Sandler keeps getting chances, though. I like her and will watch her on the big screen as long as her movies are decent.
Here are some more photos that More sent us from their feature with Drew. I really like Drew with darker hair. She was ombre blonde for a while and I think the dark color suits her better. She’s well styled here too, much better than she is in her Flower Beauty ads.

| Kim Kardashian: North is 'halfway potty trained, which is insane for her age' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
I?m including some shots of Kim Kardashian?s Love Magazine editorial/multiple covers in this post. Is it just me or is this whole Steven Klein shoot a real snooze? I mean, it was never going to be as newsworthy as her Paper Magazine editorial, but surely Klein could have found something more interesting to do with Kim and Cara Delevingne. It?s almost as if these elite fashion photographers don?t really give a crap about photographing Kim, right?
In other Kim K. news, Kim has a new interview with People Magazine. It?s nothing amazing, but she does give an update on little North West.
Kim Kardashian West is one busy mama?and she?s more than ready to add to the welcome chaos. ?We?ve really been trying for another kid,? Kardashian, 34, tells PEOPLE in the new issue. ?More kids can?t come soon enough!?
Along with husband Kanye West, the family of three recently moved into a new Los Angeles home and they?re relishing life as parents ? all of it. North ?is so smart,? she says proudly. ?She is halfway potty trained, which is insane for her age. Last night she looked up at the sky and pointed and said, ?Moon, Mom! Moon!? I couldn?t believe she knew that.?
And the little lady sure is keeping her parents on their toes. Recently, ?she took Kanye?s phone and put it in the toilet and flushed it!? says Kardashian with a laugh.
[From People]
How old is North now? Let?s see?North was born on June 15, 2013. So she?s about 19 months old, she?ll be two years old this June. Is that early for potty training? I think it is. I think the common time frame is between the second and third birthdays? And I think the most telling piece of information is that North knew the moon and Kim had no idea how North knew that. My guess? The nanny taught her.

| Gabrielle Union on all of the NFL scandals: 'Roger Goodell has failed miserably' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
I used to really like Gabrielle Union, and then all of the Dwyane Wade stuff happened, and I?m not such a fan anymore. To be clear, I think Wade is the shady one, but I think Gabrielle stayed with him and married him ? even though he cheated on her and fathered a child with another woman while he was with Union ? because she liked the lifestyle, and the cachet of being ?Dwyane Wade?s official.? After they married, Gabrielle even tried to play it like she doesn?t need his money and she was the one asking for a pre-nup to protect HER assets (he?s worth hundreds of millions of dollars). So, anyway, Gabby has a new interview with Yahoo, and long story short? I kind of liked her here. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
Playing a journalist on her TV show: ?In my real life, I watch a lot of CNN. It?s on right now. It?s kind of one of those things that?s always on in the background in general. Most days I read three newspapers. I read the Miami Herald, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times. I?ve always been very interested in the news. It?s about wanting to be informed, and wanting to hear different perspectives on thing. A lot of people think about the same thing a lot of different ways.?
America?s race relations: ?There?s a bit of a gap between what I really want to say and what I know is responsible to say. The general lack of compassion for your fellow man is really frustrating. I think what the protesters are saying, or at least some of them, is it?s not just about police brutality. It?s about a widespread systematic crippling of some people in this country by birthright, and no one?s acknowledging it. There may be a power shakeup if you?re really going to do something about it. A lot of people aren?t interested in that. They say, ?It?s not that bad. We have Barack Obama. We?re good.? Or, ?You?re not getting lynched.? They?re not acknowledging the institutional racism that impacts daily lives.
Makeup choices for all skin colors: ?It has gotten better. There are so many more lines that create shades for a wide range of hues and understand our green money works as well. And that we count. We want to look pretty, too.?
Why it?s important for her to protect her assets: ?For women in Hollywood, when they?re coupling, everything is about the brand. Everything is about latching on to a rising star, so you can kick your heels up. That?s never been my story, ever. I make sure to let people know all of the hard work that?s gone into my career. I want people to know the work that it took to get through UCLA, that I had student loans and worked. I was eating Top Ramen and lived well below my means. Now that it?s time to get married to a man who happens to play basketball and has done well for himself, I want to make it clear that I have in no way hitched my wagon to his star. I have my own wagon and star.
Her thoughts on the NFL & Roger Goodell: ?The biggest thing is that the NFL is a business. It?s professional sports, and there are 55 guys on a team. If there?s one guy out of 55 who?s done something horrible, you can?t taint the other 54 with the same brush. But in the sense that a guy committing domestic violence received a less harsh penalty than players did for smoking weed, in that regard [NFL commissioner] Roger Goodell has failed miserably in bringing the NFL to a more enlightened time. If he?d talked to his customers, they?d much rather have Cheech and Chong on the field than the villain in a Tyler Perry movie. The NFL is a microcosm of all industries. Domestic violence affects Wall Street, teachers, and policemen. We have a lot of work to do as a league, but we also have a lot of work to do as a society.
Comparing her show, Being Mary Jane, to Scandal: ?What bugs me is that they?re making the comparison because they?re both shows that star black women. It?s such apples and oranges. It?s like comparing True Detective and Law & Order ? you would never do that. What it says is we need so much more diversity in TV. We need shows starring women of color or women of a certain age or women who aren?t a size 2. If that happens, the world isn?t going to end.?
[From Yahoo]
She also talked about Chris Rock?s THR interview where he name-checked her (she starred with Rock in Top Five) as one of the African-American actresses who should be offered more work. And she talked about the stupid controversy where the Star Wars geeks were freaking out about a black stormtrooper in the trailer. While I like what Gabrielle had to say about race and Hollywood and race and sports, I?m reminded of what Mindy Kaling always says: it?s wrong when minority women have to spend the entire interview talking about race and misogyny while all of the white guys in Hollywood get to talk about their art. It?s not that Gabrielle shouldn?t be asked about this stuff, but reporters need to ask Bradley Cooper and JK Simmons and Eddie Redmayne about institutional racism and misogyny too.

| Lindsay Lohan 'completed' 15 days of community service in a couple of days | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
As we?ve been discussing for days now, Lindsay Lohan checked into a London hospital because she was super-sick, you guys. So sick that she could barely move. So sick that she needed ALL the painkillers. So sick that the hospital discharged in a hot minute, which gave her enough time to post some sketchy Instagram photos and then go to Paris to party into the wee hours. So what was all of this ?sickness? about? Well, Lindsay has a court date today, and some theorized that Lindsay?s mysterious illness was a way for her to explain how she had not completed her 240 hours of community service for her last cracked-out legal shenanigans. If she didn?t complete the hours, ?jail? was a ?real possibility.? (Except it never is with the Cracken.)
Yesterday, TMZ reported that Lindsay was ?scrambling? to complete her community service hours? in London. She went back to London after partying in Paris to complete her hours at the Community Service Volunteers organization. She needed 15 days of community service to complete her sentence, and sources told TMZ that she had been working nonstop on Friday, Saturday, and maybe Monday and Tuesday. Maybe today. And somehow, using crack math, TMZ now says Lindsay finished everything. She managed to get 15 days of community service finished in like three days? YOU ARE KIDDING ME.
Lindsay Lohan will get a letter of completion from her London community service center … but it will still be warm off the photocopy machine when her lawyer hands it to the judge. Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … Community Service Volunteers will certify Lindsay has completed her 240 hours to satisfy her probation requirement in her reckless driving case.
As we reported … Lindsay waited until the last minute to get it done, and she put in her time at a breakneck pace beginning late last week. There’s one thing that’s unclear … whether she completed her hours on Tuesday or whether she has a few left that she’ll do Wednesday before the court hearing. Since London is 8 hours ahead of L.A. she has the full day to finish if she hasn’t already.
We’re told CSV is prepared to send a letter of completion before her court hearing Wednesday morning. Lindsay will not be in court. Her lawyer, Shawn Holley, will hand the sacred doc to the judge.
[From TMZ]
Seriously?! We?re just going to roll our eyes as Lindsay once again crack-jacks the system? I don?t believe that LA County should allow community service to be fulfilled in another county, much less another country. And I think Lindsay probably pulled some kind of shenanigans with the Community Service Volunteers to get them to sign off on her hours. They probably have her ?working? while she was partying in Paris.
So, another day, another crack drama. She?s not even coming to LA to face the judge. The system is broken!

| Angelina Jolie wrote a moving NYT op-ed about the Iraqi & Syrian refugees | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
That must have been one long flight! Here are some photos of Angelina Jolie arriving at LAX yesterday afternoon. She spent a long weekend in Iraq, specifically the Iraqi Kurdistan refugee camps housing Iraqi and Syrian refugees. We covered her trip yesterday ? go here to read. Considering airports across the Eastern seaboard were canceling thousands of flights this week, I wonder if Angelina was supposed to make an earlier flight, or if her flight got diverted to perhaps an Atlanta layover or something like that. Don?t ask me why I?m interested, I have no idea. She would have flown went from Iraq to LA, right? Right.
Anyway, Angelina is still very affected by what she witnessed and the people she met in Iraq. It was her fifth trip in-country, and she ended up writing a New York Times op-ed to draw more attention to the crippling humanitarian crisis. And as I said yesterday, the UNCHR is using Angelina to shame donor countries into ponying up more money for the refugees ? Angelina specifically writes about the UNHCR budget shortfalls. You can read the full piece here. Here?s an edited version:
I HAVE visited Iraq five times since 2007, and I have seen nothing like the suffering I?m witnessing now. I came to visit the camps and informal settlements where displaced Iraqis and Syrian refugees are desperately seeking shelter from the fighting that has convulsed their region.
In almost four years of war, nearly half of Syria?s population of 23 million people has been uprooted. Within Iraq itself, more than two million people have fled conflict and the terror unleashed by extremist groups. These refugees and displaced people have witnessed unspeakable brutality. Their children are out of school, they are struggling to survive, and they are surrounded on all sides by violence.
For many years I have visited camps, and every time, I sit in a tent and hear stories. I try my best to give support. To say something that will show solidarity and give some kind of thoughtful guidance. On this trip I was speechless.
?Nothing prepares you for the reality of so much individual human misery: for the stories of suffering and death, and the gaze of hungry, traumatized children.
Who can blame them for thinking that we have given up on them? Only a fraction of the humanitarian aid they need is being provided. There has been no progress on ending the war in Syria since the Geneva process collapsed 12 months ago. Syria is in flames, and areas of Iraq are gripped by fighting. The doors of many nations are bolted against them. There is nowhere they can turn.
Syria?s neighbors have taken in nearly four million Syrian refugees, but they are reaching their limits. Syrian refugees now make up 10 percent of Jordan?s population. In Lebanon, every fourth person is now a Syrian. They need food, shelter, education, health care and work. This means fewer resources available for local people. Far wealthier countries might crack under these pressures.
Stories of terror, barrel bombs and massacres have acquired an awful familiarity. There is a great temptation to turn inward, to focus on our own troubles. But the plain fact is we cannot insulate ourselves against this crisis. The spread of extremism, the surge in foreign fighters, the threat of new terrorism ? only an end to the war in Syria will begin to turn the tide on these problems. Without that, we are just tinkering at the edges.
At stake are not only the lives of millions of people and the future of the Middle East, but also the credibility of the international system. What does it say about our commitment to human rights and accountability that we seem to tolerate crimes against humanity happening in Syria and Iraq on a daily basis?
[From The NYT]
Jolie gave some examples of some of the heart-wrenching stories she heard from the refugees in the camps, stories of rape and torture and so much more. Jolie goes on to restate the purpose of the UNHCR, and says the high commission was never intended ?to feed, year after year, people who may never go home, whose children will be born stateless, and whose countries may never see peace.? But, Jolie writes, that?s exactly what the UNHCR is doing for 51 million refugees every year.

| Keira Knightley's name is a mistake because her mom's a terrible speller | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
While on the red carpet for the SAG Awards, Keira Knightley might have let it slip that she?s expecting a girl. Maybe. Page Six claims that Keira definitely referenced a ?she? while discussing her bump, but I?m not positive. I think Keira would be totally fine with a boy or a girl, but yeah? she probably wants a girl. She’s been talking about the idea of having a girl for months! Anyway, Keira covers the March issue of ELLE UK, in a photoshoot that was done before Keira was showing. In the interview excerpts, Keira chats about how her name is a spelling mistake and how she hates style rules. Some highlights:
On her name: “I was meant to be named ‘Kiera,’ after a Russian ice skater who was on the TV one day. My dad fancied her and nicked her name for me. But it was my mum who went to register my birth, and she accidentally spelled ‘ei’ instead of ‘ie’ because my mum’s crap at spelling. Apparently, when she came back he said: ‘what the f—? You’ve spelt her name wrong!’ What were they going to do, though? Once it’s on the piece of paper, it’s on the piece of paper. And that’s me. A spelling error.”
Her style rules: ?Break the rules. I’ve always hated the idea that you should be wearing this or that, because it makes me feel like I’m getting everything wrong. I hated it at school, and I don’t want it as an adult. If you want to wear a f–king flowerpot on your head and that makes you happy, then wear a f–king flowerpot on your head.’
[From People Magazine]
I like Keira?s unconventionally-spelled name. I like the ?Kira? spelling too, but maybe that?s just me. My problem ? because I?m a crap speller too ? is that I always have to stop and think about whether she?s got an ?e? in her last name. I?m forever spelling it Knightly when it should be Knightley. As for Keira?s ?break the [style] rules? thing? eh. Keira?s always done so well for herself playing inside the style rules. And honestly, when you?ve got a face like Keira, of course you can wear whatever you like and still look gorgeous. The rest of us need some rules so we don?t wander around with flowerpots on our heads.
