In her cover story for the May 15th issue, the ?Garden State? gal explains, ?The statues are literally like gold men. This is literally worshiping gold idols- if you worship it. That?s why it?s not displayed on the wall. It?s a false idol.?
And of her marriage to Benjamin Millepied, Natalie notes, ?The disappointments are always in myself. When you?re faced day to day with someone looking at you, it?s like a mirror that you have to yourself, and you can see your own good behavior and bad behavior. The ?Hot Pursuit? babe chatted about starting a family with fianc Joe Manganiello- ?When you?re with somebody that hasn?t had kids, and you want to start a relationship, of course there?s always that question. And if it happens, it will be something that will make us very happy, but it?s not a priority in our lives.?
Ms. Vergara also lamented the difficulty many Latina actresses experience in Hollywood- ?There aren?t as many roles for Latinas as we would want there to be, but we shouldn?t be complaining because a Latin girl just won a Golden Globe, a Latin director just won an Oscar. We should be very happy that there are people out there who are doing things and being recognized.?

I have a renewed respect for Sofia Vergara with the way she?s handling the Nick Loeb situation. Loeb is SO THIRSTY. Loeb is currently suing Sofia, his ex-fiance, for ?custody? of the embryos they created while they were together. Loeb has also been waging an uncomfortably stalkerish campaign against Sofia in the press, basically accusing her of being an awful person because she didn?t and doesn?t want to have babies with him and he?s come thisclose to accusing her of child abandonment because she simply wants to their mutually-agreed-upon contract to be honored.
Earlier this week, Sofia appeared on Howard Stern?s show and of course Stern asked her about the situation. I?m paraphrasing, but Sofia was basically like ?We have a valid contract and why doesn?t he just make a baby with someone else?? Then today, Sofia appeared on a pre-taped Good Morning America interview. And she goes even harder.
Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb squared off on the morning talk shows Thursday in their battle over their frozen embryos ? with the Modern Family actress labeling her ex-fianc an opportunist and Loeb claiming he just wants protect two lives that “have already been created.”
Vergara, 42, told Good Morning America that the embryos are a non-story, legally speaking, and she criticized Loeb, 39 ? and the press ? for bringing a private matter into the public eye.
“I’ve been working very hard for 20 years to get to this point where I am,” she said. “I promote all my movies, all my work, but I don’t like promoting my private life. And I don’t want to allow this person to take more advantage of my career and try to promote himself and get press for this.”
She seemed dumbfounded about why Loeb is getting any press ? much less a New York Times op-ed ? about the matter. The two signed an agreement, after all, that both must consent in order to bring to term the embryos they created together when they were a couple in 2013.
“Why is the press allowing somebody to invent things and create press for himself?” she asked. “He’s not an actor. He’s not a celebrity. It’s like, why?” She added: “This shouldn’t be out there for people to give their opinion when there’s nothing to talk about. There’s papers signed ? I don’t understand why the media is allowing a person to just try to put me down, and make it like something is happening when nothing is happening.”
On Today, meanwhile, Loeb said he never believed Vergara “was going to change her mind” about the embryos, and that he’d be happy to raise the kids as a single father.
“It has nothing to do with whether it’s her baby or a baby,” he said. “Lives were already created … I wouldn’t toss them aside.”
He’s not asking Vergara to take financial responsibility for the children, he added. “I’ve offered to her to waive all financial responsibilities,” he said. “I want these children to have the best lives possible ? There’s nothing more that I want to do than bring these children to life.”
In closing, both of them claimed they’re not overly bitter about what’s happening.
“I think Sofia is a wonderful, wonderful woman,” Loeb said. “I don’t hate her at all.”
For her part, Vergara mentioned how happy she is with Joe Manganiello, and how blessed she is to have such a successful career. “I’m not sad. I’m grateful,” she said. “I have to enjoy what I’m living right now.”

God, Loeb is such a manipulative, craven tool. And Sofia is ? I feel ? reading the situation correctly. There?s a valid contract. The end. Except the whole story has become a toxic blend of celebrity, politics, reproductive law, and media bias. Loeb wants it that way too, because this whole thing feels like he?s trying to ?punish? Sofia for breaking up with him. It?s gross. And I?m glad she?s standing up for herself.

She seemingly went to NYC just to hang out with friends and not to see her fianc Justin Theroux. I don?t think Theroux was in NYC at the same time. Weird, right? But it felt like Aniston wanted to be seen all of a sudden after ?going dark? for two months following the Oscars. Aniston waged one of the most aggressive Oscar campaigns in recent history, and at the end of the day, Academy voters denied Aniston a nomination. But she did get to present, so at least there?s that.
Aniston repeatedly said during her aggressive Oscar campaign that she hoped Cake would be the signal to directors and producers that she could handle more complex roles, that she wasn?t just a rom-com actress. For what it?s worth? I have issues with Jennifer Aniston, but I?ve always thought she was a gifted comedienne. She has great timing, she can deliver well-written comedic lines and she?s not afraid to look foolish for the sake of a laugh. Her attempts to be ?more? than a comedic actress have always gotten her into trouble. So? I for one was hoping that Cake would not bring her a truck full of drama scripts. And it hasn?t. It looks like Aniston?s first post-Cake film will be? a sequel to Mean Girls?!
New Line Cinema is setting Sean Anders to direct Mean Moms, and is targeting a summer start date for a film that has Jennifer Aniston eyeing the female-driven comedy. They worked together in Horrible Bosses 2 at New Line.
Mean Moms matches the spirit of Mean Girls with an adult cast. A happily married mother of two who moves from small-town America to the high?class suburbs suddenly must confront the cutthroat world of competitive parenting. Jill Messick is producing with Offspring Entertainment partners Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman. Aniston doesn?t have a deal at this point and insiders in her camp said she has other options this summer, so stay tuned on this one.
Like Mean Girls, this movie is based on advice books written by Rosalind Wiseman. This film is based on Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads: Dealing With The Parents, Teachers, Coaches, And Counselors Who Can Make ? or Break ? Your Child?s Future; Mean Girls was based on Queen Bees And Wannabes. It isn?t precisely clear what role Aniston will play or if it will be closer in spirit to Rachel McAdams or Lindsay Lohan.

This has the potential to be really good and really funny. I hope that Aniston doesn?t get cast as the fish-out-of-water Lohan character. It would be much funnier (and truer to her real personality) if she was cast as the Queen Bee of the cool moms, the McAdams character. There?s a Mommy Mafia in LA and Aniston is very much aligned with that group (despite the fact that she doesn?t have kids). That?s who she is ? she?s the ?you can?t sit with us? Queen Bee.

These newish photos of Miley Cyrus remind me of how generous she usually is with the paps. If they chase her, she’ll get out of the car and give them some photos. Then she splits, and they leave her alone. Miley knows that the celeb-media relationship is often a symbiotic one. I’m not suggesting that all stars do this, but Miley does it to avoid drama.
Miley has launched a new charity called the Happy Hippie Foundation, which will “fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBT youth, and other vulnerable populations.” She previously promoted one of these causes by asking a homeless man named Jesse to accept her Video of the Year VMA. Miley’s foundation will stick with that cause and add a few others on as well. In an interview with the AP, Miley talks about the new foundation and alludes to her own bisexuality. She talks about her newly Pink armpit hair too:
Miley on her sexuality: She says not all her past relationships were “straight, heterosexual” ones but didn’t elaborate.
On homeless youth: “It’s something that everyone sees. It’s like the birds chirping. We’re consciously ignoring it at all times, but it’s always happening right in front of us.”
She calls Bruce Jenner “my hero”: “When you have all eyes on you, what are you saying? And that’s what I had to ask myself a lot. It’s like, I know you’re going to look at me more if my (breasts) are out, so look at me. And then I’m going to tell you about my foundation for an hour and totally hustle you.”
The Pink armpit hair: “The Pink pits are saying, ‘Don’t tell me what to do. It’s back to what I’m preaching in a way, you know, telling these kids. I’m not just saying you be yourself and I’m going to go be Miley Cyrus. I’m saying I’m going to be my (expletive) self, too.”

Some people will inevitably think Miley’s looking for attention with a statement about her sexuality. I don’t think that’s the case here. She’s simply illustrating why the LGBT cause is important to her, and she’s speaking to youth who are struggling with their own identities. Miley emphasized that she feels comfy with her sexuality, but lots of teenagers don’t feel powerful enough in their struggles and could use some support.
Miley also released the first video from her new Backyard Sessions (the first one was arguably awesome). This series will benefit Happy Hippie Foundation. So far, Miley’s dropped a duet with Joan Jett for “Different.” I felt a little cringey watching Miley try to sound punk rock again, but her heart is in the right place.

Showing some love to her Las Vegas fans, Mariah Carey kicked off her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Wednesday night (May 6).
The ?Always Be My Baby? songstress was in good spirits as she sang through her hit-laden set as part of ?Mariah #1 To Infinity,? while 4,100 cheering spectators cheered her on.
Back in January, Mariah announced the 18-date run, noting, ?I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this cause I'm gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album #1's, and this is now the updated version with 18 of them.?

I have such mixed feelings about Natalie Portman?s THR cover interview. On one side, she?s a pretentious, humorless ass. On the other side? I feel like THR asked her a lot of unnecessary questions about politics, the Jewish people, Israel and Charlie Hebdo and she didn?t really get a chance to show off a lighter side. THR?s justification, I suppose, for their line of questioning is that she?s promoting a film she directed, set and filmed in Israel, and she?s an Israeli-born woman who now lives in France (where anti-Semitic hate crimes are on the rise). The interview is actually pretty epic, so if you?d like to parse every word, go here for the full piece. Some highlights:
On Benjamin Netanyahu: “I’m very much against Netanyahu. Against. I am very, very upset and disappointed that he was re-elected. I find his racist comments horrific. However, I don’t ? what I want to make sure is, I don’t want to use my platform [the wrong way]. I feel like there’s some people who become prominent, and then it’s out in the foreign press. You know, sh-t on Israel. I do not. I don’t want to do that.”
Forgiving John Galliano after his anti-Semitic rant: “I don’t see why not to be forgiving to someone who is, I mean, someone who’s trying to change. However, I don’t think those comments are ever OK. I don’t forgive the comments, but ? we’ve all done things that we regret.”
Her marriage to Benjamin Millepied: “The disappointments are always in myself, and like, when you’re faced day to day with someone looking at you, it’s like a mirror that you have to yourself, and you can see your own good behavior and bad behavior. Living in France now: “I’ve been to Paris so much in my life that I felt [at first] like it’s very similar, and then when you live in a place, you start realizing how culturally different we are, deeply culturally different? in millions of ways. I feel like this country has a lot of religion and a lot of freedom around that; and there, the religion is almost like love. Love and intellectualism is their sort of way. I love that people at dinner want to have a serious conversation ? and only a serious conversation. They’ll be upset if you don’t have something interesting happen. I love that my kid wants to go to art museums after school ? like, ‘Take me to the Pompidou.’ I love that it’s also not elitist, as it is in New York. You can afford to go to the philharmonic or the opera much more easily because all of it’s subsidized. And there’s a huge culture of cinema there.”
She was in Kenya during the Charlie Hebdo attack: “I went to visit a school that we actually helped build with Dior that was an all-girls school in Kenya, like the first girls’ secondary school in the area. Someone I was with was looking at the news and said, ‘Oh my God! There were just attacks in Paris.’ ” Was she shaken by the killings? She looks at me directly and stops twirling that metal stick. “Listen,” she says. “I’m from Israel.”
Her Best Actress Oscar: “I don’t know where it is. I think it’s in the safe or something. I don’t know. I haven’t seen it in a while. I mean, Darren [Aronofsky] actually said to me something when we were in that whole thing that resonated so deeply. I was reading the story of Abraham to my child and talking about, like, not worshipping false idols. And this is literally like gold men. This is literally worshipping gold idols ? if you worship it. That’s why it’s not displayed on the wall. It’s a false idol.”

Her lack of interest in her Oscar is? interesting. Especially given that she hustled SO HARD for that little gold idol back in 2011. She was doing and saying everything she could to win that Oscar. And after she won, we found out that she and the Black Swan team pretty much lied the whole time so Natalie could win. Sarah Leal, the real ballerina/body double in Black Swan, came out after Portman?s win to basically say that it was her (Leal?s) body used in many of the ballet scenes and that Natalie wanted everyone to think that she had become this world-class ballerina in just 18 months. Portman?s Oscar win will always have an asterick beside it (for me) and I can?t believe she went through all of that to diss her Oscar.
Incidentally, in the midst of all of that political discussion, Natalie did briefly discuss the massive clusterwhoops of Jane Got a Gun, where the director and several actors all left the project within a week of the start date. Natalie plays coy with what really happened, saying that she got there ?one week before we were supposed to start.? What THR didn?t press her on was the fact that she?s a producer on the film and isn?t it strange that she just showed up a week before the production began and she only had like one meeting with Lynne Ramsay, the director who quit? Isn?t much of the clusterwhoops ON NATALIE for poor management?

Miranda Lambert is the first ever celebrity to cover Country Living magazine. I actually love these types of home-decorating magazines. I don?t like the super-fancy ones, where it?s like ?I combined three massive Manhattan apartments because I just didn?t have enough space for my wine and cigar collection.? Those magazines make me feel like a class warrior. But the home decorating magazines that are like ?I bought a terrible little cottage and I redid the kitchen and just painted everything else?? I love those. Miranda actually guest-edited this issue of Country Living, and she did the cover interview (obvs). Most of the quotes are blah, blah, I?m a country girl, blah. But she talks about trying to incorporate enough space in her home for her 15 RESCUE ANIMALS. Some highlights:
How Country is ?in her blood?: ?I grew up in Lindale, Texas, where the town motto is Good Country Living (really!), so you could say country life has been in my blood since birth. Even now, my husband Blake [Shelton] and I live in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, which is roughly two hours from any major city. There?s just a peace that comes with country life.?
On her summer plans to make jam with Blake: ?My dad taught me to live off the land. I now have my own garden, but Blake is really the gardener. This year, we?re planting tomatoes and strawberries to make jam. I have a little downtime this summer, so I?m looking forward to this task.?
On her beloved pick-up truck, Tammy: ?I?ve had Tammy, my candy apple red ?55 Chevy stepside, since I was 17. It?s named after Tammy Wynette, because that was the cassette tape in the player when I got it. Blake and I had it on display at our wedding, although I still won?t let him drive it!?
Miranda?s love for her pets and obsession with Pinterest: ?We?re building a new house, and I?ve been saving inspiration on Pinterest. A friend of mine recently said, ?I can see your Pinterest boards, and all you have on there are dog rooms.? My husband [singer Blake Shelton] and I have 15 rescue animals, and I spend way too much time planning our pets? spaces. I?m like, okay, I probably need Miranda Lambert, to move on to the laundry room!?

I have just one dog and let me tell you? he makes every room his own space. My bedroom is HIS room. The living room his play area. My office is his nap space. The foyer is his other nap space. The hallway is his thinking space. The bathroom is his drinking hole (I?ve grown to accept that he will always drink from the toilet). But I can understand how Miranda might need to create special areas and spaces just for her animals, since there are 15 of them. Good God. Does she have a full-time staff member just to take care of the dogs?
Oh, and the idea of Blake Shelton as a gardener? Interesting. I keep getting a weird vibe from their marriage though, so I kind of think he?s spending time in another woman?s garden.

One of the earlier Sony hack leaks dropped the news that Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams were both paid less than their male American Hustle co-stars. Amy’s role in the movie was large, and much of the film’s promotional material revolved around JLaw. Yet Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, and Jeremy Renner all received larger backend deals. At the time, Bale was the only male with a proven box-office record. Cooper has since proven he can draw audiences with American Sniper, but Renner has never pulled off a financially successful movie on his own. He’s always an ensemble player (and a douchey one too). Why would even Renner make more than the ladies?
We know the answer to that question. Hollywood (and society) often hands men higher paychecks for doing the same job as their women counterparts. JLaw has had enough, and she’s pulling a Charlize Theron. Hollywood Reporter reports that Jennifer agreed to star in a space drama/romance, Passengers, when Amy Pascal was in charge at Sony. The deal is still awaiting the final greenlight, and it sounds like this HR piece is an orchestrated push. The film would hand $20 million to JLaw and $10 milion to her co-star, Chris Pratt. Sony is starting to hesitate on Jennifer’s salary because this movie isn’t part of a franchise, but JLaw’s team put their foot down. She’ll get that salary, or she’ll walk:
If a person were to try to design a movie project that could simultaneously attract and repel a fiscally prudent studio executive like Sony Pictures’ new film chief Tom Rothman, it might be the space drama Passengers.
Rothman found Passengers awaiting his green light when he replaced Amy Pascal in the top job at the studio in late February. And while the project has obvious attractions — with red-hot Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt set to star in the interstellar love story and Morten Tyldum, who scored an Oscar nomination for directing The Imitation Game, on board — it hardly is an obvious yes: talent getting top dollar for an original idea with special effects that Rothman is said to see as a marketing challenge and that doesn’t appear to have franchise potential. Not necessarily an easy call for an executive expected to bring restraint to a studio that, under Pascal, long was known for its generosity to talent.
Before Rothman, 60, officially took over, Sony already had agreed to pay Lawrence $20 million to star, though her role actually is somewhat secondary to Pratt’s. His deal gives him about $10 million with the possibility (likelihood) of more based on the performance of Universal’s Jurassic World reboot. With its two huge stars, Passengers is important to Sony “because it has a hook; it’s marketable internationally,” argues one source close to the project, and the studio doesn’t have a lot of branded intellectual property in its cupboard.
Lawrence, 24, and her CAA reps are said to have held firm to the $20 million fee. Sources say Lawrence was prepared to walk away from Passengers if she didn’t get to $20 million on this film, and Tyldum was ready to exit with her. [Amy] Pascal herself might have fanned the flames with her February interview in which she was asked about the Lawrence pay gap. “The truth is that what women have to do is not work for less money,” Pascal said. “They have to walk away. People shouldn’t be so grateful for jobs.”

Sony needs to get it together on this film. Space movies are usually big moneymakers, and the final budget would be $80 million. Jennifer has an Oscar and a built-in audience who follows her to nearly any film (except Serena, ha), and Pratt is getting there too. HuffPo notes that “the Sony hack proved to be a blessing in disguise for Lawrence.” We’ll see. I hope Sony makes good on this deal. JLaw would join the likes of Angelina Jolie, RDJ, Denzel Washington, and Matt Damon in the salary department. Make it so!

It feels like Reese Witherspoon?s online ?Southern Goop? venture has been gestating for a really long time, but in truth, this whole thing basically took about 15 months for her to pull together. And now it?s officially here: Draper James is online now. Go here to look at draperjames.com. If Goop.com is elitist nonsense and Preserve is hipster nonsense, then Draper James is Southern nonsense. Now that I?ve had a few minutes to browse the site? I don?t really hate it though. Is it full of ridiculously marked up items? Sure. $200 sleeveless blouses are not my jam. But the prices are positively peasant-y compared to Goop. And unlike Preserve, Draper James has a very straight-forward, user-friendly layout (possibly helped by the fact that they don?t have a lot for sale at the moment).
There are personal touches too, from Reese. You can see Reese?s ?editorials? here, which are mostly just ?fun? and ?peppy? I?m-so-Southern shills. She even has a page for ?Southernisms.? Yeah? I grew up in the South and I still live in the South, and no Southerner has ever said to me, ?We don?t apologize for looking pretty.? You want to know a real Southernism? ?The bigger the hair, the closer to God.? (Steel Magnolias got SO MUCH right about the South.) So, yeah? I think this venture is completely unnecessary, but it?s nothing Reese should be ashamed of. It?s fine. She?ll make some money out of it and she?ll play up her ?I?m a cornpone gal, y?all!? credentials for a little while longer.
Meanwhile, In Touch Weekly has some minor drama between Reese and her ex-husband!
Reese Witherspoon and her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, have mostly gotten along since their 2007 split. But In Touch has learned that the former Hollywood couple have recently had some serious arguments over their kids, Ava, 15, and Deacon, 11.
?Ryan thinks Reese is trying to cut him out of the kids? lives because she?s cutting back on his time with them,? a source reveals in the new issue of In Touch. ?Reese has been blaming the kids? busy school schedule, but the reason Ryan thinks she isn?t letting them see him is that she doesn?t like his lifestyle. She thinks he parties way too much and doesn?t want Ava and Deacon around that.?
But, according to the source, Ryan finds fault in her reasoning. ?He doesn?t understand why Reese is trying to tell him how to live his life ? Ava and Deacon are honor students, and when they are with him, they do their homework,? the source tells In Touch. ?He takes good care of those kids and is very angry with Reese right now.?

It wouldn?t surprise me if this story was true. And if it is, Reese needs to stop with Miss Holier-Than-Thou routine. Ryan was the one who had to tell the kids that their mom was a nasty, belligerent, drunk AMERICAN CITIZEN to a Georgia cop and she got arrested. Is Ryan a perfect dad? Doubtful. But I think he loves his kids and he?s not bringing a lot of unnecessary drama into their lives. Besides, Reese needs her kids more these days for the endless stream of happy-family pap strolls she?s been doing to shill Draper James.

According to Us Weekly, Tom Hiddleston is dating Elizabeth Olsen. I know, it seems kind of random, right? Olsen and Hiddles have known each other for a while, and they worked together last year on I Saw the Light ? he plays Hank Williams and she plays Hank?s wife Audrey Mae Williams. So? I?m guessing they hooked up on set?
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen?s sister Elizabeth Olsen has a new man in her life! The Avengers star has been getting cozy with her costar Tom Hiddleston, a source tell Us Weekly.
?They have been hooking up,? the insider tells Us of the longtime friends, who become close while shooting upcoming movie musical I Saw the Light, in which they play husband and wife.
?It?s casual,? the insider says, adding that the two won?t be rushing into titles anytime soon, but they do make sure to ?text when they?re apart.?
And the timing for Hiddleston, 34, couldn?t be more perfect, considering Olsen, 26, called off her engagement to Boyd Holbrook this past January.
?She wants to make a new life for herself,? the source says. ?She?s having fun.?
Hiddleston was previously linked to record producer Jane Arthy.

What I?m getting from this is that Hiddles is a homewrecker. Olsen was engaged to Boyd Holbrook while she and Hiddles were working on ISTL. So if they did start hooking up during the film shoot, Hiddles broke up an engagement. Huh. Anyway, I have my doubts that this is still an ongoing thing, just because he?s been filming The Night Manager all over the place and she?s been promoting Age of Ultron all over the place and they haven’t been in the same city at the same time that much. But sure, I?ll buy that they were hooking up and they?ve left the door open for more hooking up in the future. I?ll also buy that Hiddles is a homewrecker.
