Candace Cameron Bure is very right-wing, very Evangelical Christian. She?s also the kind of new-wave fundamentalist who can reframe issues so she seems like less of a close-minded bigot. Make no mistake, though. She?s absolutely a close-minded bigot. She?s not anti-vaccine, she?s just pro-immunity! She?s not anti-LGBTQ, she just thinks gay folks shouldn?t have the right to marry or be represented positively in the media. She?s not a fundamentalist Christian hellbent on turning America into Gilead, she just ?loves Jesus.? Which brings me to this story Candace left the Hallmark Channel in April after a decade spent on making those churchy, wholesome TV movies. Candace is now working with the Great American Family network to turn that into the kind of ?family values? channel where LGBTQ folks are never heard from or represented. It looks like Candace might have put the GAF network in a bit of a pickle though, because she said that sh-t explicitly.
Candace Cameron Bure does not expect the Great American Family (GAF) network, which she serves as the chief creative officer for, to feature same-sex couples in its Christmas movies. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal published Monday, the Fuller House alum, 46, said, I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core, when asked about the subject.
Bill Abbott, the former Hallmark Channel CEO who now runs GAF, added of featuring same-sex couples: Its certainly the year 2022, so were aware of the trends. Theres no whiteboard that says, Yes, this or No, well never go here.
A representative for GAF and Bure did not immediately respond to PEOPLEs request for comment. Bure exited the Hallmark Channel in April ? a network she had worked with for over a decade. The channel currently has plans to air a more diverse lineup this year, including the upcoming movie, The Holiday Sitter, which will feature a main LGBTQ love story.
Bure told the WSJ that the Great American Family has no plans to do the same, but will instead focus on other stories, like that of her first movie with the network, A Christmas Present, which will premiere on Great American Family this month. Bure previously starred in 10 holiday-themed movies and 30 films overall for Hallmarks Crown Media.
Now, Bure told the WSJ: My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them. I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.
The outlet said that Bure would not speak about her departure from Hallmark Channel, only telling them, It basically is a completely different network than when I started because of the change of leadership.
And while Hallmark executives declined to comment on Great American Family to the WSJ, a spokeswoman for Hallmark said, We want all viewers to see themselves in our programming and everyone is welcome.

I did not think that this week?s JoJo Siwa story would catch fire the way it did. JoJo did a TikTok where she simply named her picks for rudest celebrity, nicest celebrity, etc. JoJo?s pick for rudest celebrity was Candace Cameron Bure. I think the story became such a big deal because A) people really hate Candace and B) it says something when a bubbly, positive person like JoJo calls out someone for being a jerk. At first, Candace?s reaction to Siwa?s TikTok was to throw a Bible verse up on her social media. As it turns out, Candace did call JoJo yesterday though. And then Candace made her own video.
Candace Cameron Bure apologized to JoJo Siwa and says that their feud has been squashed. The former ?Full House? star, 46, took to Instagram Tuesday to say that she reached out to Siwa, 19, and asked her why she called her the ?rudest celebrity? she?d ever met.
During their conversation, Cameron Bure learned she had snubbed Siwa when the then-preteen dancer asked her for a picture at the 2016 premiere of ?Fuller House.? The actress told Siwa, who was 12 at the time, ?Not right now,? and then proceeded to ?take pictures with other people.?
Cameron Bure, who felt ?crummy? hearing the story, apologized numerous times for ?breaking? the child star?s ?heart.? She added that, as a mother, she felt even worse for likely hurting Siwa?s mom?s feelings in the process.
However, Cameron Bure said Siwa acknowledged during their chat that it was no longer ?a big deal? and even felt somewhat ?silly? telling her the story.
Siwa apparently had no idea her remarks would spark controversy, which is the ?lesson? Bure had for her fans. The Hallmark actress said, ?Even a 10-second trending TikTok video can do damage because our words matter and our actions matter,? regardless of a person?s level of fame or number of followers.

JoJo probably didn?t intend for the TikTok to go viral the way it did, but she has every right to her opinion and she clearly still felt that snub from Candace, to the point where it was stuck in her memory. Candace should learn that her own actions and words fking matter too, because you can bet that she?s regularly a jerk to children (and the LGBTQ community and anyone who isnt a fundamentalist Christian).

Candace Cameron Bure is facing an empty nest. I won?t pretend that I don?t enjoy the irony in writing that the star of Full House and Fuller House is an empty nester. But that is the truth, in fact. The 43-year old mother of three is all alone now that her 18-year old son, Maksim, has followed his 21-year old sister, Natasha, and 19-year old brother Lev?s lead and flew the coop. Candace was on Good Morning America promoting her latest book, her second children?s book called Grow, Candace, Grow when she discussed her feelings about her kids all being out of the house.
Candace Cameron Bure is in unchartered territory as a mother.
The Fuller House star opened up Tuesday about life now that her children? daughter Natasha, 21, and sons Lev, 19, and Maksim, 18 ? no longer live at home.
?My son turned 18 yesterday. My baby,? Cameron Bure, 43, said on Good Morning America. ?And it?s crazy, I don?t have any kids at home anymore. It went so fast. Everyone says that, but when you?re in the position you realize how fast it goes.?
However, her husband, retired ice hockey player Valeri Bure, feels much differently about having the house to themselves.
?He was like, ?I finally have time to do everything I wanna do,? ? she said.
The actress also joked with the GMA hosts about a recent video she shared on Instagram showing her reading a children?s book to her dog, Boris.
?I?m reading to Boris now because he is the only one I have left at home,? she said. ?He is my big, 130-lb. Rottweiler. He is ginormous. His head is twice the size of mine.?

My children still live at home so I can?t comment on what its like to have an empty nest. I am curious what it will feel like and if it really will go as quickly as they say it does. I am also sure it will Sting to not have my kids around, so I won?t poke fun og Cameron for this. Plus, I am slightly jealous that she has this kind of freedom at 43 and I won?t know it until I?m pushing 60. So I?ll just suggest a few ways Candace can fill her time instead. Perhaps she can read some endorsements for presidential candidates and think about voting for someone who isnt a traitor. Or, she can take a look at the Bible she is so fond of and count how many ways her candidate broke with its tenets. Or she could write another children?s book and make the subject acceptance and speaking out against discrimination rather than siding with those who practice it.
I suppose I could practice what I preach and turn the other cheek so I will say something nice. I haven?t read her children?s book yet, but I have tried to write one and it is so very hard. Grow, Candace, Grow is about patience and, assuming she didn?t infuse her right-wing ideologies into it, then I applaud her because this is a great lesson for kids. Also, I was impressed with how she supported her co-star Andrea Barber when she spoke up about depression and anxiety.

The ladies at The View have stirred up more controversy, and if you want to see the video exchange, Gossip Cop has it right here. The conversation started when Whoopi Goldberg brought up how Lena Dunham posted an underwear photo and then quit Twitter after experiencing “verbal abuse.” Lena’s position was that it wasn’t an obscene photo, and yes, she was more covered up than anyone wearing a bikini would have been. She also knew she’d deal with backlash, but that doesn’t excuse the body-shaming trolls at all. People are just brutal. Anyway, here’s a shortened transcript of the discussion between Whoopi, Raven Symone, and Candice Cameron Bure:
Whoopi: “The minute you put yourself out there, in somebody’s underwear … you can’t be surprised. You know what’s on Twitter.”
Raven: “At the same time, people on Twitter need to keep their mouths respectful because they come hard at people.”
Candace: “I’ve never been more verbally abused in my life than on Twitter, and specifically in the last few months, having come on this show. A lot of people don’t agree with me – that’s fine, don’t agree with me. But you don’t have to verbally abuse me and rape me. That’s what they do to me on Twitter.”

Well, I sort of agree with Whoopi in that people should know the awfulness that lurks on Twitter, but that doesn’t excuse stuff like death threats, of course. Lena probably heard the most dreadful things about her underwear photo, but she also goes looking for a reaction sometimes. Sadly, the terrible people out there didn’t let her down in that regard. Those trolls hide behind their anonymous, multiple handles and will say anything.
Oddly enough, Raven sounds the most sane out of the entire conversation. As for Candace, god only knows what she was thinking by comparing nasty tweets to rape. Yes, it feels like a slap in the face to see mean tweets (or comments on blogs), but nothing is like rape except rape itself.

The View‘s revolving door of hosts makes it hard to keep up, especially since the show probably should have ended years ago. With Rosie O’Donnell popping in so often, the dizzying effect only heightened, but I think Rosie is done with the show for good. She certainly won’t be around next season, and Barbara Walters and ABC announced the season 19 lineup. Candace Cameron Bure and Michelle Collins are joining the show, and Joy Behar (love her) is coming back for more. So along with Whoopi Goldberg and Raven-Symone, this panel should provide some semi-entertaining arguments in the months to come.
Candace Cameron Bure has really enjoyed a career resurrection lately. She’s got Fuller House coming up on Netflix, and now The View! Poor Kirk Cameron will have to proselytize through cheesy cottage-industry movies without his sister because she’s busy now. I look forward to hearing her ramble about submissive marriages and juice cleanses. Here’s ABC’s annoucement:
It’s official! Fuller House star Candace Cameron Bure is adding another job to her plate – The View co-host. The actress is officially joining the daytime talk show’s panel, alongside returning host Joy Behar and new corresponded Paula Faris, ABC announced on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The just-added Season 19 panelists, newbies Bure and Good Morning America Weekend co-anchor Faris, along with veteran Behar, will contribute their expertise on politics, style, food, culture, beauty, and wellness.
“As The View embarks on a remarkable 19th season, I am extremely proud to see the legacy of smart and diverse women engaging in entertaining and thought-provoking conversation continue,? Barbara Walters, creator and executive producer, said in a press release announcing the news.
Behar had this to say of her new (old) gig: “Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in,? the comedian said. ?Plus, [my husband] Steve was getting tired of applauding every time I gave my opinion. But I?m happy to be back home. And I’m looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics, especially now that Hillary [Clinton] and the Donald are in the spotlight.”

Man, I bet Kelly Osbourne is seriously upset she didn’t make the cut. I think she may have been a serious contender because people always hire her for no reason. Then she threw her red carpet tantrum last weekend. ABC has enough drama on The View without Kelly’s grumpiness. She would have been one ego too many on that show. She’d want to be the moderator, and there can be only one. But Joy is back, so that’s good news.

Candace Cameron Bure will always be DJ Tanner from Full House to me. She’s all grown up now and recently made headlines on DWTS. Plus she talked about her semi-controversial “submissive” marriage that is somehow not a dictatorship.
Cameron’s making waves again. This time, she riled up the masses by talking about her new cleanse on Facebook: “After a very indulgent week in Napa, I’m excited to kick off my 5 day cleanse with @eatpaleta today!! Shakes for breakfast & lunch, sensible snacks & a light veggie dinner!” The comments section went wild. Some folks accused her of having an eating disorder and told her to “eat a steak,” which is pretty rude. People are so judgy about other people’s eating habits. But Cameron did put the info out there, and I suspect she was doing some not-so-covert advertising for Paleta cleanses. Cameron decided to explain her cleansing situation further:
After reading your comments, let me expand! I’m excited to start my 5 day cleanse not to lose weight but to get my body back on track, ridding all the toxins and unhealthy stuff I’ve put in it the last few months. Since being off Dancing With The Stars, my body has struggled to find its balance after having danced up to 8 hours a day and eating so clean. After going back to my normal eating habits as well as extended over indulgent summertime vacation eating and normal exercise routine, my body has endured some confusion causing some minor health issues. That is private, so I will not going into detail, but this cleanse is just a step to getting it back on track because I know that food is a key source to healthy living. I’ve chosen Paleta to help because I think they’re great. And if you still comment about how unhealthy I am for doing a cleanse or that I don’t need to lose weight, I’ll know that you never read any of this and I won’t bother answering any comments below of that nature.

It’s just a five-day cleanse. I wouldn’t do it because my temper goes through the roof after missing one meal, but if Cameron wants to do it, why not? The DWTS regime does mess with people’s bodies. Celebrities are constantly getting injured on the show, and they lose so much weight and usually gain it right back after they get voted off. Cameron also spoke with Access Hollywood about the cleanse backlash. She says she doesn’t want to lose any weight, but she’s “just wanting to get the impurities out.”
Cameron’s also been spreading the TMI about her “active sex life” with husband Valeri Bure. Ugh. She spoke with Dr. Rachael Ross (via Us Weekly) about how sex is “a very fulfilling part of a marriage. When you’re happy sexually, it kinda just balances the rest of the stuff out. You’re not so mad at each other, you’re not nitpicking at the little things.” There you have it. Cameron may not be eating much solid food right now, but she’s getting plenty of action. And she wants you to know all about it.
Side note: I love Mark Ballas! He’s so freaking cute.

You know how I?m sometimes (often!) inappropriate, rude and offensive? IT?S MY JOB! Ha, no, I often try to reel it in, which is what happened when I wrote about Candace Cameron Bure?s ?submissive? relationship with her husband. I mean, I basically believe that she?s an adult and she can define her marriage however she wants, that?s her business. But I actually wrote out a 50 Shades of Grey joke in the post and I deleted it before I published because I thought it would be ?too offensive.? The joke was a throw-away: ?Candace believes in 50 Shades of Jesus.? It still makes me giggle. I know, I?m going to hell. Anyway, I bring up my deleted joke because Candace offered a ?clarifying statement? on her pro-submission stance. And she mentions 50 Shades of Grey. It?s happening, people! Her statement:
?I use the word ?submission? and yet it?s a biblical definition of it, and I think the first thing that pops into peoples? mind is this ?50 Shades of Grey? use of the word, or something that?s oppressive, or it?s a dictatorship in my home, and I?m like, ?no.? I love my man, I want him to lead our home, but it?s kind of like driving a car. Only one person can be in the driver?s seat, but you?ve got a navigator. You?ve got a partner riding with you, and we do it together.?

This kind of sucks as a clarifying statement because she basically repeats the same thing she said to HuffPo. We get it, Candace, your husband is in charge and you help ?navigate?. I don?t think any of us really thought that Candace was talking about sub/dom sexual relationships. She was very specific. So let?s just spell it out: Candace?s submission doesn?t have anything to do with Christian Grey, from what I can tell. Just FYI.

Candace Cameron and her brother Kirk are evangelical Christians. The Camerons ? with the help of many Evangelicals ? have been a part of a cottage industry in Hollywood and the publishing world by making ?family-friendly? and ?Evangelical-friendly? movies, TV shows, TV movies, books, etc. And before someone complains about my use of ?cottage industry? ? yes, I get that Evangelical/Christian entertainment is a growing and profitable industry representing hundreds of millions of dollars. I?m just saying that for the most part, it?s separate from the rest of Hollywood and the rest of the publishing world.
So, Candace has a new book out. It?s called Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose. From what I understand, this is not a ?how to?. She?s not Gooping all over us, encouraging us to live exactly like her. Maybe I?m wrong about that, but this book just seems more like a Christianity-infused memoir. And it?s a memoir about how she came to be a ?submissive wife? to her husband Val Bure. ?Submissive? in the biblical sense. Seriously. Candace spoke about it to HuffPo:
Actress Candace Cameron Bure spoke on HuffPost Live with host Nancy Redd about her views on marriage, which she’s outlined in her new book, Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose. The former “Full House” star has been happily married to NHL player Val Bure for 17 years, and they have three children.
She writes in her book, “I am not a passive person, but I chose to fall into a more submissive role in our relationship because I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage and family work.”
Bure elaborated on HuffPost Live, “The definition I’m using with the word ‘submissive’ is the biblical definition of that. So, it is meekness, it is not weakness. It is strength under control, it is bridled strength? I love that my man is a leader. I want him to lead and those major decisions to fall on him? it doesn?t mean I don?t voice my opinion, that I don?t have an opinion – I absolutely do.?
Cameron has defended her view of marriage in the past. On Christian Women Online she quoted the biblical passage, “First Peter 3:1 says, ‘In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives.’”
“It is very difficult to have two heads of authority,” she told HuffPost Live. “It doesn’t work in military, it doesn’t work — I mean, you have one president, you know what I’m saying?”

At the end of the day? it?s her body, her choice, her marriage. If being ?submissive? to her husband and letting him make all of the ?decisions? in their marriage is what works for her, than God bless. Do I think this is a dangerous idea to promote? Absolutely. But there are millions of women and men who feel that this is how marriage should be, with the man as the decider and the lady as the?? I don?t even know. The ladies raise the children, but if the husband is the ultimate decider, how do you even get through the day without calling your man a million times to get him to sign off on a million different things? It just doesn’t make sense from a time-management perspective.
