Jordana Brewster is a pretty low key celebrity, which is surprising for someone whos starred in one of the biggest movie franchises of our time (The Fast and the Furious movies). I didnt know this but her mom was a Brazilian model who was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1978. In an interview for Yahoo Life, Jordana talked about her mom sneaking her into an aerobics class when she was fifteen, pretending to be eighteen. The unspoken message that young Jordana picked up on was to prioritize weight loss/maintenance and looking camera-ready. She went on to have body image issues throughout her twenties, which she says kept her from living in the present. But her stunt training for The Fast and the Furious movies helped her to focus on strength instead of weight loss.
I spent most of my 20s trying to fit into, like, a perfect box ? which is impossible, really. And its a waste of time, she says. That?s what really sucks about being super self-critical or having body-image issues is that youre just trapped in your head, and youre not living in the present at all. So I think it just robs you of life, really.
However, recognizing that the Brazilian ideal was much different from what was gaining popularity in the United States helped her to maintain a healthier relationship with her body than she might have.
You always wanted a bunda, [Portuguese for butt], Brewster says. It was never like the 90s heroin-chic thing.
Now, at 43, its that multicultural upbringing that she credits for allowing her to enjoy movement without the intention of shrinking her body. Ive always loved being strong, she says. Thats also driven her performance as Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise over the last 22 years.
The more physical it is, the more fun it is for me, she says of her role. When youre working with a stunt team, its almost like working with a dance troupe. Its so meticulously choreographed and planned. To be able to be healthy enough to land the choreography and to do it myself versus having someone do it for me, its like a badge of honor in a way. I want to keep doing that.

Jordana Brewster is an actress who is arguably best known for her role in the Fast & Furious franchise. Although I just learned she attended Yale so there is a lot about Jordana I don?t know. She recently appeared on the Verywelll Mind Podcast which is hosted by Health Magazine?s editor-in-chief Amy Morin. Jordana and Amy talked about parenting and marriage in the public eye. Jordana married Mason Morfit last year after a whirlwind courtship. She and her ex-husband Andrew Form have two sons, Julian, nine, and Rowan, six. Mason and his ex-wife have four kids together, the youngest is around Julian?s age. Jordana, as a celebrity, has always been active on social media, posting many shots of herself and her family. But now she is going to pull back from featuring the other members of her family, specifically her kids, because she told the podcast, ?its not fair. Theyre not consenting.?
Jordana Brewster is going to take a step back from sharing content about her kids on social media.
Appearing on Mondays episode of the Verywell Mind Podcast, the Fast & Furious star, 42, opened up about life with her two sons, and how she decides what parts of her life to make public.
Brewster, who share sons Rowan, 6, and Julian, 9, with ex-husband Andrew Form, said she typically goes with my gut when it comes to choosing what to share.
Recently, my kids are getting older, Julians 9, Rowans 6. And I find that because I like being brutally honest and because I like veering towards humor, I often talk about them or post about them, she told host and licensed therapist Amy Morin.
But I think Im not going to do that as much because its not fair. Theyre not consenting to it. So Im going to stop that, she added.
Brewster said she also checks in with her husband Mason Morfit, whom she wed in September.
I check in with my husband because hes also brutally honest, but hes also now been dragged into the public because of me, she shared. So I actually checked in with him before this podcast and I was like, Hey, how do you feel about me talking about this? We go to couples therapy sometimes, and hes like, Yeah, thats fine. But I have to ask whether or not someone consents to that.

When we talked about Jordana and Mason?s engagement, I asked about social media. At that time, her sons were all over her IG. Mason?s IG was private, his ex-wife had no public presence and their kids were completely out of the public eye so I wondered where he and Jordana were going to meet on this. If I were to guess, I?d say Mason and possibly his ex had some influence on Jordana?s decision. I?m sure they?ve asked that their kids not make it on to her accounts and she?s likely seen the logic in that. I like her point about checking in with her family about what she?s talking about, too. I do this. Mine are almost always fine with what I plan to say, but they appreciate that I won?t air their business without a heads up.
Later in the podcast Jordana talked more about checking in with her boys, specifically when it comes to Mom guilt. She said she often feels bad about leaving them to work and tries not to be gone for longer than three weeks at a time. But when she asked them if they wanted her not to go away, her sons said they love that she works and they?d ?never want you to just be with us 24/7.? I get the point she?s making, that most of the time the guilt is coming from everyone but the people we feel guilty about. So sometimes checking in is as good for the person doing it as it is the person you?re checking in with. Pretty evolved for nine and six year olds, too.

Jordana Brewster has a new first person essay for Glamour Magazine in which she describes the breakdown of her marriage to Andrew Form. They separated last summer after being married for 13 years. Jordana and Andrew have two sons together: Julian, 7, and Rowan, 5. Jordana is getting a lot of headlines for being open and honest about her eating disorders. People Magazine has more on that, she both binged and restricted during a time when she knew her marriage wasn?t working and she and her husband were disconnected. I wanted to focus on how she described her new relationship with Mason Morfit, whom she calls the love of her life. Particularly how she explains the way they almost immediately got serious. Heres a segment from the essay where she talks about that.
So, toward the beginning of the pandemic, Andrew and I decided to separate. The combination of being apart for most of the year for many years and growing apart emotionally took its toll.
Mason and I had met once, while we were both still married, four years ago. At a lunch with mutual friends, he sat next to my then husband, and they talked about Hollywood. I?m always shy in new social situations, so I excused myself and wandered around Park City. But I took note of Mason; he was cute, charming. Shortly after that lunch I started following him on Instagram. I enjoyed his sweet, self-deprecating humor. His intelligence made him all the more attractive. He started following me as well. My heart would leap as soon as he liked a post or commented on something I?d written. We had similar backgrounds: We?d grown up abroad, ping-ponging from England to Brazil (me) and Indonesia (him).
Four days after I separated from Andrew, I was on a plane to San Francisco to visit this man I had met only once but who had stayed on my mind. I knew hed been separated for two years. I wanted to see him, to confirm whether the image I?d built up in my mind matched reality. What I got was far more than I expected.
When I landed, Mason was at the bottom of the escalator, holding a sign with my name on it. My heart was fluttering like a hummingbird. I felt at once super panicked but also strangely grounded. I couldn?t help but move toward him. He took me into his arms and we embraced. For five minutes. In our masks. Everyone at the arrival terminal walked around us. During a time when the world avoided all contact, when it was mandated that everyone stay six feet apart, Mason and I blended into each other. I thought, Please kiss me. And he did.
From that day on Mason and I saw each other every other week. We began thinking about how to blend our families. Therapists and friends urged us to slow down, to enjoy the time alone, but we knew this was right. I guess what didn?t work for me last time was working for me now.
Friends asked me about my kids and the toll it would take on them. They saw my decision as sudden, impulsive. The problem was that they didn?t know it was 13 years in the making. What seemed like a huge event was in fact a slow unraveling. They just didn?t look close enough. That, or I?m a good actress.
In my 20s and most of my 30s, I second-guessed every move or decision I made. In my 40s, I know what I value and am proud of decisions I can make on my own. My newfound security helps my kids in the long run. I know that in my heart. I also feel like I finally have a partner.

While she takes pains to say the breakdown of her marriage wasn?t her ex husband?s fault, she also sounds like she?s shading him by saying she finally has a partner. The timeline doesn?t add up for me. Jordana met Mason once when they were both married to other people, she added him on Instagram and they liked and commented on each others posts for a few years. Then she flew to meet him four days after she was separated? They must have been flirting pretty hard over Instagram. Some people consider it cheating when youre not working things out with your partner and spend a lot of emotional energy on someone else. I?m not saying that?s what happened, just that this story doesn?t make sense unless shes been communicating with him for years.
A lot of people say ?when you know you know? and it happens this way for some couples. It sounds like Jordanas friends were just looking out for her by telling her to take her time.

Actress Jordana Brewster may be best known for playing Mia in the Fast and the Furious franchise. However, she currently plays Maureen Cahill on the TV series Lethal Weapon. That makes me happy to write because I know one of the writers on that show (holla, M-!) . However, Jordana and I have more in common than knowing an LW writer, we both have sailor mouths that need to be kept in check round our little ones.
Jordana Brewsteradmits she has a little bit of a potty mouth ? and that, like many parents can probably empathize with, it has rubbed off a little on her 3-year-old.
Talking to PEOPLE, theLethal Weaponstarsays, ?If I could redo one parenting moment, I think I would never swear in front of my sonJulian.?
?And my husband [producerAndrew Form] warned me about that and I was like, ?No no no, he?s never gonna pick it up,? but he did,? confesses Brewster, 36. ?And it?s really hard to rein it inonce they do pick it up, so that?s a little piece of advice I?d give.?
Another thing the actress?s older son (she and Form, who willcelebrate 10 years of marriageon May 6, also share 10-month-oldRowan) gets from his mama? Her fiery disposition.
?Julian has a massive temper,? she shares. ?Rowan is very mellow so far, so he?s a lot more like my husband, whereas Julian ? hegets over things really quickly, so that?s like me, but he flares up. I think that?s his Brazilian blood.?
Brewster continues, ?So if he stubs his foot, he?s like, ?Table!? And he?ll scream at the table, but then he?s over it. But he definitely has a temper,so that?s my kid.?
TheFast and the Furiousalum jokesshe has?aspirations to be a strict parent? but is ?pretty whipped? by Julian, whom she admits is ?a pretty spoiled kid so far? ? something she?s trying to change.

I have become adept at curbing my foul-mouthed ways when the children are present but I cannot not give up The Big Big D (HMS Pinafore reference for all my theater-loving friends.) And my stupid children call me out for it Every.Single.Time. Just wait until they start driving in LA ? I?ll bring the pillow to cushion that fall from their high horse. I tend to flare-and-forget temper-wise as well. In Julian?s defense, the table usually deserves it. I can?t relate to being ?whipped? by my kids but I love that she admits that – so often parents don?t think this is true but they totally are (please see my previous comment about not relating to being ?whipped.? Oh wait, must run ? my kid is calling me.)
For those who follow the Furious films, Jordana?s Mia did not appear in the latest one. Mia is the love interest of Brian, who was played by the late Paul Walker. Jordana agreed that it didn?t make sense for her to appear if Brian wasn?t there. Plus, she said for her personally, it would have been hard for her to portray that character without her friend. But, Mia is Dom?s (played by Vin Diesel) sister so even though she sat Furious 8 out, she could always come back for Furious 9-23.
